Chapter 3

Getting up I got dressed in some faded jeans, a black tank and a red flannel. I was in the middle of putting my black boots when my phone rang.

Looking at the contact name I saw it was Caleb, my cousin. When we were little my aunt and uncle moved away but Caleb didn't want too leave. I was about 10 and he was 12 when he moved in with us.

Caleb was the older brother I never had, when he graduated high school he moved to New York to attended college.

"Hey Caleb how's New York!?" It's been a while since we've talked. "I hope you haven't forgotten me"

He laughed "of course not Emma, how can I forget my favorite girl" I grabbed all of my essentials and put them in my purse.

"Hey what about me!" Another voice yelled. Wait a second I know that voice.....

"Your not a girl and stop saying that, people will get the wrong idea!" I heard Caleb yell.

I gave zina her food and refilled her water bowl.

"BUT I LOVE YOUUUUU!" Okay now I'm sure I know that voice.

"Sammy is that you!?" I yelled into the phone.

"Hello Emma it's been a while huh?" Samuel is caleb's best friend and use to play with Connor and me when we were younger.

"It has, so your living with Caleb now? I hope no funny business is going on" he started laughing really hard.

"Not you too Em" I could practically see Caleb rolling his eyes.

I laughed and waved goodbye to zina.

"Okay, okay well I have to go I'm still in school remember" I picked up my bag and walked out the door to my car.

"Okay well I just wanted to tell you that were gonna come visit this weekend" I smiled.

"Alright call me when your on your way" we said our goodbyes and hung up.

I was backing out of my driveway when the song Favorite girl by the Icarus account came on. The first time I heard this song, was the day that Connor confessed.

~ flash back ~

"Connor where are you!?" I whispered as I walked around the trees. "seriously I'm gonna leave if you don't come out".

"BOO!" I screamed and fell on my butt. "Haha sorry Em but you should have seen your face!" He laughed

I got up and tackled him down, he was beneath me wile I sat on his stomach with my legs on either side of him.

"What was that for Em?" He groaned. I stuck my tongue out at him. "because you scared the crap out of me" he laughed.

"Okay I'm sorry m&m, will you forgive me?" I shifted so my butt was on his stomach and both my legs were on one side of him.

"Hmmm let me think about it" I tapped my chin. "Okay, but I'm gonna sit on you for punishment"

Suddenly he started tickling me and I fell over to his side. "okay okay I give up!" I yelled as he towered over me still tickling me.

He stopped using his hands to support him self over me. We stared into each others eyes until he broke away to stand up.

"Come on I have something to show you" he helped me up, and we walked closer to the lake.

It was getting kinda dark so I texted my mom to tell her I was probably gonna spend the night at Connors.

You would think she would be worried about that, but since we've know each other for years and she trusted us, she's okay with sleep overs.

"Okay close your eyes" I did as told, I heard some rustling and then a "okay now open them"

I stared in awe at what was before me. There was some cushions with pillows and buckets of popcorn and other snacks.

There was lights and lanterns on the trees, right in front of the sitting are was a white blanket used for the screen. The projector was off to the side and was playing my favorite movie as a kid. The little mermaid.

" Do you like it?" I turned to Connor and hugged him.

"Yes thank you thank you THANK YOU!" We pulled apart and I kissed his cheek. His face was so cute, he was blushing really hard!

"Im glad you like it and I also have another thing" he walked off the the back of the screen and came back with a guitar.

"I've been taking some lessons and I learned a song for you" I sat down and he sat in front of me. "okay so don't judge me I'm new at this whole singing thing" I nodded. He closed his eyes and began.

He strummed the last notes and smiled at me. I was out of breath. He scratched the back of his neck and blushed.

"D.....did you like it?" I shook my head. Connor frowned but as soon as he put the guitar to the side I jumped on him.

"I didn't like it because I LOVED IT!" I was laughing but stopped when I saw how close our faces were.

I slowly leaned in and kissed him. It was a perfect, sweet kiss, our lips moving in sync. It didn't last long, quickly realizing what I was doing I pulled away.

"I-I'm sorry Connor, I-I didn't mean to...."He cut me off my kissing me again.

We pulled apart and he smiled up at me. "I've always liked you Emma......will you be my girlfriend?"

I sat there shocked, is this real life? My crush actually likes me back? This only happens in movies....right?

"So is that a yes or no?" He laughed. I snapped out of it and nodded.

"Yes!" We kissed again, the whole night we watched movies under the light of the stars.

Together.
