Clementine allowed you to stay in the room while they debated their options. Either you were permitted to stay at the school — or you were exiled. It wasn't Clementine's initial choice to have you there, but Violet had asked, and she'd been persistent. Clementine really had no choice; as Violet put it: "If we have any reasons for him not to stay, he should hear and be able to argue his case."

No one argued with her.

So there you stood, in the corner of the principal's office, watching as the others all sat around the desk, making the decision on what to do with you.

"There's clearly no reason to kick him out," Violet said loudly, her eyes darted across the room and met yours.

You gave a sheepish smile and went back to picking at your nails. There was nothing you could really do right now, most people were quiet, maybe they'd already made up their minds. They certainly weren't giving up any arguments on the contrary. It seemed good. Like you weren't going to have to argue to stay. Maybe everyone had already collectively decided to let you stay.

"Yeah I'm gonna have to side with Violet here on this one," Louis said, shrugging his shoulders. "He's helped us out a lot."

"And he helped clear out the school a bit," AJ said as he stepped forwards to speak. "He organised us to take back part of the school and it worked. If we want this place to be safe, we have to continue getting rid of all the monsters."

AJ glances to you and you give him a smile. Your plan seemed to work well so far. You've gotten people on your side and won them over.

"He's been more than helpful," Ruby chimed in. "Y/N and Violet have done a great deal of help for us by hunting. Without that help we'd have starved by now."

"And I couldn't have done it without Y/N's help," Violet said, directing her gaze over to Clementine who seemed to relent with a small shrug.

Omar crossed his arms. "But Y/N said he was being chased when he first got here. We saved his life, it's time we send him back out there before his past catches up and we get caught in the crossfire."

"First of all," Violet said, a frown on her face. "We had to save his life after he was shot by an arrow—"

"You shot him," Omar said.

"Exactly," Violet doubled down. "Which means we owe this to him. Sure we saved his life but that's the bare minimum after we were the ones to cause him to be injured in the first place."

"He was pretty much dead anyways," Willy said, joining the conversation after having spent the entirety of it doodling in a notepad. "Violet shooting him made no difference."

You cursed your luck silently, why now of all times was Willy chiming in?

"Okay, okay," Clementine said. "Let's stop arguing and just vote. All in favour of letting Y/N stay, raise a hand."

Out of the nine people in the school, six of them raised a hand. Violet, Aasim, Ruby, Louis, Tennessee, and AJ. This left Clementine, Willy, and Omar as the only ones that didn't vote yes.

"Then," Clementine looked around the room, taking in everyone's votes. "Y/N, you can stay. Welcome to Ericson's School."

You smiled and thanked everyone before you all slowly peeled out of the office. Violet caught you by the door and elbowed you gently.

"Happy?" She asked. "I knew you'd be allowed to stay."

"Yeah I guess," you said, elbowing her back. In reality, you still weren't sure as to whether you actually wanted to stay or not. But at least you could keep your options open, stay for now — and if the going gets tough; leave. Simple.
