*Castiel*
Once I was far enough away from the bookstore I transported myself to my apartment. Uriel was next to me in an instant.
"What the hell are you thinking Castiel?!" He yelled at me. Uriel glared at me. "I'm trying to help you! And you're frolicking around trying to get in a human girl's pants!" His deep voice boomed, making me flinch.
"It's not like that Uriel! It just simply happened!"
"Castiel, this isn't like you. For the record, she is way to young for you!" That's true, I being almost as old as time itself and I'm falling for someone who is eighteen. Ridiculous.
"I've been trying to forget her! But Uriel, I can't! She's in my head 24/7!" He scoffed at me and became rigid.
"You're even starting to sound like one of them! Castiel, snap out of the delusional state you're in!"
"Uriel, she's starting to make me feel! And God does it feel amazing! Have you ever felt your stomach curl or warmth spreading through your body?" Uriel didn't answer, just tilted his head to the side. "Exactly! They feel wonderful! I feel like I'm actually alive, not some hardened rock of a soldier!"
"I can't protect you from Rafael forever! You need to make sure you act angelic still brother!"
"I'm trying, but she can make me feel emotions I've never even known!" I fell down onto the bed an sighed. "Please Uriel, try to let me experience things with this girl. Help me brother."
"I'm trying to help you, but you make things so damn difficult sometimes!" I sat up and gave him a pleading look. "Listen, I will try everything to keep Rafael from spying on you, but no guarentees, so when you're not with this woman you need to act as angelic as possible."
"Yes, Uriel, I will try." I nodded at him and he looked down on me.
"Don't screw up anymore." He threatened. With a swoosh of air Uriel was gone and probably went back to heaven to round up angels to help me ascend. I couldn't believe I was taking such a big risk to keep seeing Ariel. This isn't like me at all, but I feel like I am changing. Growing a human soul was definitely something that wasn't on my to do list on Earth.
The next morning I heard a slight knock on my door around noon. I went to open the door and was surprised to see Ariel standing there.
"Ariel! What are you doing here?"
"Um, I had the day off, and I wanted to come see you." Her cheeks went red for some reason. I touched her cheek and she quickly looked at me. I tilted my head and furrowed my eyebrows.
"Why are your cheeks red?" I asked. For some reason this made Ariel laugh and smile. She pushed past me into my apartment and sat down at the small table. Her hair was in a bun on top of her head and she looked absolutely gorgeous when she looked lazy.
"I'm blushing Cas!" I went and sat down next to her and looked into the bag she brought curiously. "You're such a little kid!" She said as she swatted my hand away.
"I just want to know what you brought me." I pouted and she opened her bag. She pulled out various books and drinks.
"I saw you looking at this book and smuggled it from the bookstore." She handed me the book on archangels and I wrinkled my nose up in disgust. Ariel was too busy looking through another book to notice. "I also brought a few other books on angels and gods, since I thought you were into those things. Oh, I also brought some soda for us." She handed me a can that said 'Diet Coke' on it. I stared at it for a few moments before Ariel opened it for me. I gingerly took a sip and shook my head. The bubbles went down my throat oddly. Ariel laughed at the expression I had on my face.
"You've never had soda before?" She looked at me shocked. I shook my head and she gasped. "Maybe I should just leave then!" She gathered a book and started walking towards the door. Before I knew what I was doing I appeared right in front of her.
"Don't leave!" I said. Her eyes were wide and her mouth was a gap.
"How did you get to me so quickly?!"
"I uh guess I'm just fast..." I drifted off hoping that she whould buy it.
"You're a strange man Castiel." She smiled, practically knocking me off of my feet. I led her back to the table and sat down with her. Over the next two hours she was telling me all about Greek gods and goddesses. Of course, I already knew about them all because they're all alive and I've met them, but I wasn't going to stop Ariel and say that. After the first hour and a half we both ended up lying on the bed comfortably. I sighed and she propped herself on one elbow to look at me.
"Are you ever going to tell me about your childhood Cas?" I bit my lip.
"I don't think so Ariel..."
"Why not?" She looked genuinely upset by that.
"I didn't have that great and exciting childhood..."
"At least tell me where you're from." Ariel pushed.
"Umm...I used to live in Georgia." I said. Which isn't a toatl lie, in heaven everyone has their own heaven, as angels we can visit whoevers heaven we want. I prefer the eternal Tuesday afternoon of an autistic man who drowned in a bathtub in 1953, he happened to live in Georgia, and when I'm in heaven I do end up spending most of my time there.
"I've always wanted to visit Georgia, my mother lived there."
"Lived as in she died?" I immediately regretted what I said. Ariel turned away, her eyes filled with sorrow.
"Yeah, she was shot and killed, someone tried to rape her and she defended herself and he shot her..." Her voice drifted off. "I was in Indiana living with my dad, so I never was in Georgia with her."
"What was her name?" I asked curiously, I might've visited her heaven. I doubted it though since there are so many.
"Mary LeAnne Novak, I chose to keep her last name since my father and I never really got along, but he had a better living situation than my mother." Mary LeAnne Novak... I dug around in my brain trying to put a name to a place in heaven, but unfortunately I couldn't. I'd have to remember to ask Uriel to check out her heaven later.
"I'm very sorry Ariel, but I know for sure she's in a better place." I gave her a faint smile and she leaned foward to rest her head on my shoulder. I stroked her long, brown waves as silent tears ran down her cheek. I pulled her face back to look at me. "Listen, I'm so sorry, I don't want to see you upset." I ran my thumb along her cheek and she nuzzled her head into my hand. Slowly I leaned towards her. She lifted her watery eyes. The water brought out the intensity of the green in her eyes.
I set my forehead on hers. Our noses were touching and we breathed in each other's breath. She smelled of jasmine and peaches. Beautiful. Was the only word I could think of. she leaned up towards me and all of a sudden our lips brushed. Just at that contact my whole body was heated. She finally pressed her lips to mine. We snapped together like magnets. Her hands were wrapped around my neck playing with the curls at the nape of my neck. My hands rested at her hips lightly. Our lips moved perfectly, as if they already knew what to do on their own. My whole body was on fire by this point. I gingerly pulled back from the electrifying experience. Her eyes sparkled as she looked right into my eyes, like she was seeing through me. She smiled faintly and I pecked her cheek. Suddenly, I was overcame with emotions. Warmth was all around me and I felt so much love for her somehow. My heavenly powers made wind blow all around us. The scent of fresh lilac surrounded us. I imagined that we were in a field by ourselves, but I didn't will us there. I pushed her back onto the bed and held her hand. We lied there for another hour just with our hands holding each others without speaking.
It was bliss.
It was my heaven.
