When we got there loads of people were walking about with red cloaks on. I felt left out because, the only red I had on was my shirt and had a white hat with red stripes on it. Brea had a red dress on that matched my moms, and dad had red shorts, a red shirt and hat. Mom got out four red cloaks from the car. I really didn’t want to wear it, but if I didn’t, I would have looked weird. A lot of family’s were there. Most of them with younger kids. The walk to the parade looked miles away. I couldn’t see a place with any people in it.
We started walking and after about fifteen minutes, Brea started to complain about sore feet. No cars were allowed through the streets, and I could see why. So many people swarmed the tiny streets. The red made it almost look like blood running down someone’s arm. The buildings were an odd yellowish colour, skin coloured. The idea of the red was in fact meant to be blood. Mom talked the whole way up about St Marcus. Really I couldn’t care less.
She mentioned vampires and all of the other mythical stuff that people believe. She got interrupted when the crowd behind us started shouting, and a yellow Italian sports car came speeding up the road. Dad pushed mom and Brea back, but forgot about me. I almost got hit, but I fell back and landed on some lady. When I turned around to apologise… I couldn’t. She was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. “I’m so sorry, are you ok?” she spoke with the mast angelic voice. She helped me up with her cold hands. I couldn’t see her face properly because when wore the hood on her cloak up, but I could see she was pale…really pale.
“Yeh …i-I’m fine, are you ok?”
“Yes I’m fine, thank you” She looked years older than me, but still so amazing. Mom rushed over to me.
“Cole! Cole? Oh my god, are you ok.” Then she turned to the beautiful lady and stayed quiet for a while” I’m so sorry, the car just came up out of nowhere!” Then another person spoke and we looked over to her. She had flaming red hair. It glistened in the sunlight. She too was beautiful. Then I looked to her friend who … well was even more than beautiful. The strange girls had red eyes. Obviously wearing contacts. I had saw some people with fake fangs in but these guys took the festival really seriously.
The most gorgeous girl out of the three spoke to me “I hope you’re ok, we have to go now.” And they all left. As they walked it looked like they were dancing. The last to speak had an American accent, she looked about my age. The other two had a different accent. They were gone in a matter of seconds. I couldn’t think about anything else but the girls. One in particular. The American one. She had beautiful long blonde hair, her voice was almost hypnotic. I became a lot more focused, looking out for the beautiful girls. Blanking out the sounds around me. After half an hour we got to where we wanted to be.
I sat on the side of a fountain. It was so busy, that I couldn’t see the parade. Dad took pictures. So many different people were there. I watched children cry. People push through to see the parade. One girl in particular pushed a lot. She looked so eager to get through the crowd, and she was crying. People shouted some (what sounded like) angry words at her, but she paid no attention.
By the time the girl got close to where I was sitting, she decided not to push through anymore and ran straight through the fountain. I looked to see where she was heading. A dark figure stood at the entrance of a big building. She ran straight to it, and disappeared out of sight.
After what seemed like a long time, we decided to get up, and have a look at the little city we were in. I couldn’t find the girls anywhere. Although, I did see another girl, who almost had the same features. She danced through the crowds. Her hair black as coal, but her skin white as snow. She had shades on to so I couldn’t see her whole face. She headed for the building, which the crying girl ran to.
Mom and dad found a building, which I really didn’t want to go in, so I stayed outside with Brea. After about fifteen minutes of people watching we got bored and decided to have a wonder. Brea texted mom “Goin 4 a walk. Meet us @ the fountain in 5 mins. ; ) “
When we got to the fountain they were already there. We had been out for most of the day and we were all getting really hungry. So mom decided to look for a place to eat. While looking, a tour was taking place. Another beautiful girl (I really liked this city- I hadn’t saw so much stunning girls in my life) looked in charge of the tour.
Mom asked the lady, where we could go and eat. She recommended some ancient restaurant that she was taking the crowd to. We followed her with the rest of the people. Its wasn’t a long walk. I realised that we were heading for the building I saw the, crying girl and the small pretty girl went into.
Just out of the corner of my eye, before we went into the building… I saw the girls. They looked even more memorizing, than before. But then they were gone. When we got into the old building, it didn’t look like a restaurant. An average looking, older woman stood at a desk. We walked up a long corridor. It kind of freaked me out. A lady at the back of our crowd cried…she held a cross and was praying the whole way up the corridor.
Did she know something we didn’t? Just as we got to the door when the small girl with the black hair, the crying girl- who now wasn’t crying but looked like she had just been to hell and back. A big guy held her, in such an aqwuard position. As if he read my thoughts, he held her closer, less aqwaurd.
When we got into another room. The doors shut. People started falling to the ground, screaming – disappearing. For a moment I stood in shock. Pale people were now all over the crowd- they looked like they were eating them. Mom screamed and my head snapped round to her. “MOM!” Brea started bawling. I didn’t know what was going on. Brea held onto my hand.
I couldn’t move. I couldn’t feel my body. I couldn’t hear a thing. Then things stopped. Bodies started flying to the other side of the room. Brea cried. I was then aware she wasn’t next to me. Everything went so quickly. My head started spinning, the last thing I saw was a boy not that older than me, grab my sister. All my senses stopped. I collapsed.
