Braxton was laying on my couch sleeping soundly. I needed to watch over him to make sure that the bleeding was stopped. If the vein came undone he could bleed out without ever showing a sign. Hendrix and I were laying on my over sized chair and ottoman that was positioned next to my couch. I watched his peaceful face, I was in awe of how beautiful he was. His long lashes were fanned over his cheeks, and his lips were slightly parted.

What was I going to do. I'd been thoroughly warned by Nina, Sam and even Braxton himself. I didn't belong in his world, but that didn't mean that I didn't belong with him. Could I do this? Could I sit around and wait for a phone call? Could I wait for one of the boys to show up at my door covered in blood needing aide? Could I ride on the back of his Harley, and have every girl in this town loathe my existence? Was I strong enough for this life? I felt like all odds were against me. Braxton and I were good together, but could that possibly be enough.

"Over thinking?" Braxton's scratchy voice brought me out of my trance. I looked down at his face which was angled towards mine. He blinked slowly and wiped the sleep from his eyes.

"It's my favorite past time." I smiled and my heart softened. Braxton scooted himself up right and winced. "Easy there." I pushed the blanket off of me and stood up.

"I'm fine." He tried reassuring me. I rolled my eyes and handed him four Tylenol and a bottle Gatorade.

"I'm a doctor. I know better. Now take these and drink all of this." I walked to my kitchen and grabbed a bowl of the soup I had made. I walked back to the living room where he was trying to peak under his bandage. "Stop that." I rolled my eyes again.

"I just want to see." He wined.

"You need to leave it alone." I sat the bowl of soup on the coffee table and set up one of my TV trays. "Here, this will make you feel better." I sat the bowl on the tray and gave him a spoon.

"Ainsley." His voice was soft. He grabbed my hand and stopped me from walking away. "Sit by me." He pulled on my hand. I complied and sat down next to him. "They shouldn't have brought you into this."

"And done what? Let you bleed out?" I felt hurt. "Do you not want my help?"

"Of course I do." His face softened. "You're the only person in the entire world I'd want to stitch me up."

"But?" I finished his sentence for him.

"I just don't want you to get hurt."

"Because you're dangerous. I know." I crossed my arms. "That seems to be the conversation choice for everyone who's talked to me since I've moved here."

He chuckled. "Ainsley. You're so pure; so innocent."

"Braxton." I interrupted him. "I'm a grown ass woman; I don't need to be protected. I'm fully aware that being with you is going to be a challenge, but if this." I gestured between the two of us. "If this is meant to be, then the challenge will be worth it. You need to stop trying to scare me off and decide if we are worth a shot. I can handle the danger, the pain, and the jealous women, but I can't handle constantly being doubted."

"Okay." He had an amused smile.

"What?" I narrowed my eyes skeptically at him.

"I just like seeing this fiery side of you." He shrugged.

"Just eat your food." I pointed to his bowl of soup and stood up.

"Yes ma'am." He cocked an eyebrow up and gave me that smirk he always gave me. I sat down in my chair and cuddled back up with Hendrix.

"You need to get some sleep." I yawned and sunk down further in my chair.

"I think that you're the one that needs the sleep." He smiled over at me, stood up, and walked over to my chair. "I'll be fine. Goodnight Ains sleep tight." He leaned forward and kissed my forehead. My heart fluttered and suddenly the weight of the day set in and my eyes got heavy.
