"Hurry up Y/N, we're gonna be late!"
"Okay, okay I'm coming."
You grab your bag and join your friends at the door. You were getting ready to meet up with a bunch of people, some you knew and others you didn't. You were always shy around new people, so you've been stalling by taking a while to get ready. You walk with your friend out of your apartment and down the street.
"It won't be so bad, you'll see. I bet they're really nice people." Your friend says. She must have seen your nervous expression.
"Yeah, but still. I'm so awkward around people." You grumble.
She laughs and you crack a small smile too. You go around the corner of the street, laughing and talking. In the distance you see the café near the beach, where you're meeting up with the group. You feel yourself get even more nervous. You feel a comforting hand on our arm. You turn to see your friend smiling at you.
"It's gonna be fun! Just you wait and see."
You nod back. You both reach the café and walk in to see the group waiting. Your friend rushes over to them, dragging you with her. You recogise some people but most were strangers. One of the strangers in particular stood out to you, mostly because of how good looking he was. He had his hands in his pockets and he looking right at you, a cocky smile on his face. You ignored him and turned to your friend, who was introducing some people to you.
Eventually, she turns toward the good looking guy.
"Y/N, this is Jimin. Jimin, Y/N." You nod in his direction and he sticks a hand out.
"Nice to meet you Y/N." He says, still smiling cockily. You shake his hand, and look him right in the eye, defiantly.
"Likewise." He seems surprised by your reaction. You guessed he was used to girls swooning at his every movement.
"Hey, guys let's all head down to the beach!" Some randomer in the group called out.
"Hell yeah!" Your friend says and the whole group moved out the door. You started to talk to your friend but then you feel someone grab your arm and turn you around. You see Jimin looking down at you.
"Um, do you need something?" You say. Your friends runs ahead to join the group in front.
"Walk with me?" He asks. He gives you a smile, that you guess is supposed to melt your heart or whatever. You give him a confused look.
"I don't even know you." You say, suspiciously.
"All the more reason to walk with me. We can get to know each other." He links his arm through yours. You decide to play along, for now.
You both walk down the street, toward the beach. You talk about normal stuff, like hobbies and favorite colours. Your arm leaves his to give wild hand gestures while you speak. You decided that maybe this guy wasn't so bad.
When you arrive on the beach you realize how far away from the group you are.
"We'd better catch up to then." You say and you start to run but he catches your arm again. He pulls you toward him until you stand, extremely close.
"I'd much rather we be alone." He says huskily. He strokes you cheek and you feel your heart thumping against your chest. But you don't let yourself be affected by him. You push away and look him in the eye again.
"That flirty stuff doesn't work on me. Just thought you would know." You say.
"Liar. You seemed to enjoy it just now." He says, smirking.
You blush, but you stand your ground.
"You're really not that impressive."
"Oh really?" He says. He lifts up his shirt to reveal a six pack of amazingly toned abs. All you can do is gape awkwardly at them while he laughs at your expression. He puts the shirt down and give you more of an apologetic smile.
"Okay, okay I'm done teasing you now. I'm sorry for acting like that. I can see it doesn't affect you much."
"Does it, uh, usually work on the girls?" You say, still dazed.
"I don't do it to other girls at all. I guess I was trying to impress you." He looks at you sheepishly, running his hand through his hair.
"What? Why?" You ask, genuinely confused.
"Well, what do guys usually do when they see a beautiful girl? They flirt right?"
You have literally no idea what to say to that so you just stare at him. He looks down and scrapes the sand with his foot.
"You could say something. I just complimented you." He says.
"Do you wanna go out sometime?" You blurt out. You cover your mouth with your hand in shock.
"Hey, its my job to ask you out." He says, laughing.
"Well, you're kinda crap at it." You retort, blushing furiously.
"Fair enough." He says and moves closer to you. He tucks a lock of your hair behind your ear and whispers into it, sending shivers down your back. "I'd love to go out with you, Y/N"
You gulp and try to say something witty back. You don't want him to see how much he affected you.
"See, you're getting better already." You say, shackily. He grins at you and opens his mouth to say something but at that moment your friend and the rest of the group come up behind you.
"Why didn't you guys catch up? We went all over and- oh right." Your friend stops short when she sees how you and Jimin stood together.
"Well, I did not expect this" She says. She looks at Jimin with awe in her eyes. You guessed she would be the kind of girl his bad flirting tactics would work on.
You both stare at her until she gets the hint. She excuses herself and leaves. You burst into laughter and Jimin grins at you again.
"What is it?" He asks.
"It's just that she's the kinda girl that would melt at your feet. Shoulda gone for her." You say, still giggling.
"Nah." He says and pulls you to him again. He leans in forehead against yours and strokes your cheek.
"I chose you because you're different. And I love different." He whispers.
It was like a cliché love story in a movie, you and him meeting. But you decided long ago that cliché was the best kind of story.
