| Epilogue I |

Marion hadn't been able to keep her eyes open after those few short seconds of consciousness. When she opened them again, Arthur was gone. The girl forced herself onto her feet, swaying and grabbing the wall for support. She felt like she was going to hurl, her vision spinning, head aching.

The dark-haired girl could barely pull the torch off the wall; her weak grip combined with her unsteadiness made it a challenge, but she was determined. Marion hobbled out of the corridor, out to the courtyard.

If Marion thought that the rats alone were a sight from hell, whatever was happening below her had to be worse. Nicholas was on fire: metal turning fiery red, melting into skin... and still he chased after Amicia and Hugo mercilessly.

"Hey!" Marion barked, waving the torch to catch the raging man's attention. She just needed to distract him for a moment, so the siblings could slip away. She watched as Nicholas turned his head in her direction, a low growl leaving his lips.

"Go to hell, bastard!" The dark-haired-girl continued, as Amicia launched an extinguis at the burning man.

It wasn't long before the rats were hounding him, the earth cracking and rumbling as they dragged him down. Nicholas was finally gone... Marion felt like she could finally breathe again.

The cathedral Vitalis had inhabited was sullied with black rot.
propterea sicut per unum hominem
It was no longer a place of Holiness, and Sanctity, but the lair of a greedy, sinful man.
in hunc mundum peccatum intravit
The home of towering 'angels' who fear not the light, a battleground where the muddled line of morality became clearer than ever.
et per peccatum mors
Evil was cleansed.
et ita in omnes homines mors pertransiit
Yet still we sin.
in quo omnes peccaverunt

A/N

I didn't wanna write the last hour of gameplay left in Innocence so all we have is some slam poetry. I probably should've written the last boss fights in more depth, but I've had such bad writers block these last few months, that I just couldn't bring myself to write a 2,000 word long winding fight scene. Also RIP Rodric and Arthur, you'll live on forever in my heart even though I didn't write your deaths.
