Rant #6: Lack of Original Stories

This is a serious problem, guys. A very serious problem.

I can't find a single original story to read anymore. It seems like I've added all the beautiful stories to my library ages ago, and now the only ones left are the ones that don't follow any creative plot line.

Why does every Wattpad author who's part of the RotBTFD fandom find it necessary to craft up some half-baked story that mirrors about fifty other stories? I like originality, but frankly, the majority of this fandom lacks it.

Now, I admit, my first RotBTFD fanfiction was a modern AU that I created when I was done with eighth grade. At the time, I incorporated so much from other high school AUs that I read before that. For instance, Elsa's the new girl, Rapunzel's the b*tch, etc. But, I'm much older now, and I'm still writing that book. As of this moment, I've been trying to change it up, add some sparkles to the boring, cliché pile of a story it used to be. It's a process, because there was a lot of damage done already, but I'm still trying all the same.

I get a feeling some authors share this feeling with me, as I've been seeing a spike in interesting stories lately. But we still have the high school dramas with no clear aim.

My message to the authors of the RotBTFD fandom:

You can write about your favorite and non-favorite character. You can add certain qualities to characters. You can write a modern AU. All I ask of you is to unscrew the lid of your jar and sprinkle some of that "You" magic onto each and every word you write. No one is forcing you to be a robot and repeat what others have done.
