Becca hadn’t heard from Niall since he went to Mullingar. All she knew was he had went to see his friends. Now he was there to see them get buried. She figured she would give the boy time to grieve the loss of his friends. He didn’t need her trying to get his attention at every turn. In the long run, he would probably be thankful for it. Still, she missed him something fierce. It had been six days since he went to Mullingar and only four days since she and Bree arrived in London.
They were staying with Harry, which was more than awkward for Becca. She didn’t mind being around the couple. If she wanted to get away from their couple-ness, she could just go up to the guest room where she and Bree were sleeping. It was an easy escape, and the longer she didn’t talk to Niall meant the more welcome the escape was. She loved that Harry and Bree were so happy, yet it was obvious they only did things to keep Becca entertained. They hadn’t really gone out since the girls got there. Instead, Harry and Bree stayed in mostly just to have dinner with Becca. She liked hanging out with them. She just hated she was getting in the way of their being together without an audience. She was thankful for Harry, though.
Becca would wake up in the middle of the night and couldn’t go back to sleep. That’s how it usually happened when Becca was in a foreign. Harry would often catch her in the kitchen snacking on whatever she could find. After the first night, Becca noticed how Harry kept it stocked with things Becca liked. She made a mental note to thank Bree for filling him in once they were home. Harry would stay up with her, and they would talk until she either fell asleep at the table or Harry forced her to go to bed. Becca didn’t really need the support Harry was giving her, but at the same time, she sort of did. An emptiness filled her whenever she thought about Niall. She missed him so much that she would find herself watching videos of the boys just to hear Niall’s laugh. It was pathetic, but Harry didn’t judge her in the slightest.
She leaned against the counter in Harry’s kitchen. She managed to actually talk the couple into leaving Harry’s flat for at least an hour. Harry was taking Bree on a walk around where he lived. Becca was going to take the time to text her parents. They kept texting her to make sure she was okay. No matter how much she reassured her mother, the woman kept texting just to make sure. Her sister kept doing the same, though Becca was sure her sister would like it better if Becca wasn’t okay.
Her phone dinged as soon as she sent the text to her mom. A smile grew on the girl’s face as a name popped up she hadn’t seen in almost a week. It was Niall. The text asked if she wanted to Skype. How could she say no? She rushed up to the guest room to grab her laptop. Answering Niall’s text, she signed onto the video chat service and waited. It was just a few seconds’ wait until Niall was signed on too and calling her.
She put on a huge smile and answered. “Nialler!”
The boy’s face popped up on her screen, and he smiled back. “Darling! God I’ve missed your face.”
“I missed you too,” she beamed. “How are you?”
“Better,” he answered.
“When are you coming back? Or…when do you have to be back?” she asked.
“I’m coming back tomorrow afternoon,” he smiled.
Her smile got wider. She really couldn’t help it. “Can’t wait.”
Niall smiled back at her. “Do I get cupcakes when I come home?”
“Of course!” she giggled. “Is that all you want?”
“A big hug. I could use one from ya.”

The redhead poured the last of the batter into the cupcake pan. She had made four different kinds of cupcakes for her favorite Irish boy. Her nerves were going crazy, trying to jump through her skin. She was so excited to see him again, and it was going to be for much longer than a few days. She and Bree had a few more weeks in London, which meant Becca would get to see Niall almost every day. Putting the pans into the oven, she went to work on the frostings for each flavor. Becca never put that much work into someone’s homecoming, but it was Niall. Baking cupcakes for him was her way of letting him know she cared for him. She didn’t really know any other way. Well, she could tell him, but she’d rather not risk that heartbreak just yet. Not so soon after getting him back.
