Niall drummed his fingers on the counter. His girlfriend was in the bathroom getting ready for their date, and she was taking forever. Becca was under the pretense he was taking her to Nando’s. He did tell her to dress casual. No sense in her dressing her best when it wasn’t going to be required. Besides, fancy dates weren’t really his thin. He’d much rather take Becca somewhere they were both comfortable. They’d tried somewhat fancy in Dallas, and it didn’t work out very well for them.

“Rebecca! Hurry the fuck up!” he yelled with a laugh.

“You can’t rush perfection, Horan!” she yelled back. “So calm the fuck down because you’ll be waiting forever for perfection.”

He pushed himself away form the counter to go to the bathroom. Becca leaned against the vanity as she applied eyeliner. Her mouth hung open slightly, and Niall couldn’t help but giggle at her. She stopped, shooting him a glare. His laughter died, and she went back to work. Once she’d finished, she move on to lip gloss. Niall didn’t understand why she needed make up in the first place. She was beautiful without it. She told him that it only enhanced what she already had. Whatever made her happy he guessed. He watched her slide her glasses on.

“You done now?” he asked, reaching up to play with her hair. Somehow she managed to tie it into a bow and Niall couldn’t stop himself from pulling at it.

She nodded, swatting his hand away. “I’m finished.”

He smiled and wrapped his arms around her. “You look beautiful…and I didn’t have to wait very long for perfection.”

“You’re very sweet.” She kissed his cheek. “Now take me to this ‘special’ restaurant you won’t tell me anything about.”

Niall shook his head. Of course she would have guessed it. He should have known he couldn’t pull anything on her. Still, they could keep up the pretense that it was a lot more special than it actually was. They had to wait for a can to pick them up. Niall didn’t have his license, and Becca couldn’t drive in England to begin with. Not that she would if she could. Becca had a fear of driving and anxieties being in a car. She hated the whole practice really but found it a necessary evil. She drove when she was in Louisiana and that was enough for her. If she could get out of it, she normally would. Once they were in the cab, Niall gave the driver a note. He didn’t want Becca to hear where they were going, even if she already knew. Now all he had to do was distract her.

“so Bree’s doing study abroad, yeah? Harry’s ecstatic,” he said.

Becca nodded. “She is too, but I told her she should really enjoy the city too. Not just Harry. Get the full experience, y’know?”

“Makes sense,” he smiled. “And what about you?”

“Well, I’m not using scholarship money to be here so I’m definitely going to enjoy London,” she grinned up at him. ‘But I do plan on spending as much time with my boyfriend while I can.”

He put his arm around her. “Well good. He’d be awfully upset if you just forgot about him. Sow hat did you do in Scotland?”

“I mostly stayed in and studied. I went out a couple of times, but I just busied myself with school,” she shrugged.

He frowned. “Did you at least go sightseeing?”

“Oh yeah. I did that. I went to the town my family came from, went on castle tours. I did a lot of that, but that was all educational for me. Fun but still very educational,” she said.

Niall nodded as he looked out the window. They were close to Nando’s, but the small talk wasn’t doing much by way of distracting her. As they talked, she looked out of the windows. She was too curious for her own good so Niall had to think of something really quick. Biting his lip, he figured he might could really get her talking about Scotland if he asked the right questions or even just said the right thing to get her started.
