Note: All legal references in this chapter are based on the Indian Penal Code (IPC), not the BNS. Ok, idk who need this but here's a simple thing before you read this chapter for better understanding:

Prosecutor = is a lawyer for the State appointed by the Central Government or Supreme Court for politically sensitive or media-heavy cases. They represent "The State" officially, but in reality, they often act under government pressure or influence especially someone powerful like Hardeep Devraj is pulling strings and they try to prove Rutvik guilty.

Defence Advocate (Mr. Verman) = is a lawyer for Rutvik who fights for him and tries to prove him innocent.

Opposite Defence Counselor = is a lawyer for opposite party accused or witness, depending on the case and in this case, he is fighting for Hardeep Devraj and defending him because he is being dragged into it and has his own legal trouble.

Jury? = We don't have jury system in India anymore after 1959.

Why we don't have Jury? Because of the K.M. Nanavati vs. State of Maharashtra case (1959), where a Indian Navy officer shot his wife's lover. The jury found him not guilty, but the judge saud it makes zero sense coz he was guilty and overruled it. After that, the government scrapped jury trials completely because they realized Indian juries could easily be influenced by media, emotion, and politics.

So now in every case, whether it's murder, corruption, or terrorism is decided only by judges (Sessions Court, High Court, or Supreme Court). No 12 random citizens. No jury duty. Just one or more judges ruling on facts, law, and evidence. And in this case, the Judge = is Justice Anurag Agarkar.
