Author note: Nahella slapped Rutvik because she believed for ten years that he had ghosted her and faked his death, only to discover that he was alive. Her reaction came from years of grief, anger, betrayal, and shock, but she will regret it so much for slapping Rutvik! Please don't treat physical violence against a partner as something romantic or acceptable even if it's just a mear slap. It doesn't matter whether the person being hit is a man or a woman. Hitting your partner in any form is still abuse.

Don't slap others; slap your own butt.

"Nahella, Rutvik is alive."

The phone dropped from Nahella's hand. Her body started to shake and her ankle twisted, her heart pounded violently, and she could clearly hear her own heartbeat in her ears. It was ringing so loudly inside her head that it felt like her head might combust at any moment.

She didn't know why she wanted to run. Maybe she wanted to escape because she thought she was imagining things. Maybe everything happening right now was just another nightmare, another delusional, illusionary dream her mind had created. So she ran, but only a few steps before her shoe hit on a small rock on the ground. She stumbled and fell onto the soil, still trembling.

"My Ella!" Rutvik shouted.

No! No, no, no. This couldn't be true. This couldn't be true. Never! No, Rutvik. Rutvik is not here. It was not Rutvik's voice. Why will Rutvik be here!? No, this is a lie.

"Dream is it... yes." Her voice came out as a broken whimper. "Everything... everything doesn't make sense. No, Rutvik cannot be... What is wrong with me? No. Who is he and why he is calling my name? No, this can't be true, right? This... no, no, I would... Rutvik... no..." Her words fell apart between uneven breaths.

Slowly, she covered her ears, pressing both palms flat against them as if she trying her best to silence the voice, her thoughts, and everything. She took aggressive, uneven breaths, her entire body trembling as she kept her ears covered.
