(Picture is the dress. I'm not good at describing clothes but I tried. This is the dress Anna will be wearing on her wedding day.)

I stand staring at the bundle in my arms, sweating like a pig and panting like I've just won a marathon. Looking at her the same way my 6 year old sister would look at some new shoes.

"She looks just like you Mat" Sandy says to him but he doesn't answer. Doesn't smile, just stands there looking shocked as his daughter lye's looking up at him. Squinting her eyes open then shut again at the bright light.

"Do you want to hold her?" I ask him as Sandy covers the me up and sits down as we wait for the ambulance. The cord hasn't been cut as they need to check to make sure she's alright before they let me take her for myself.

"I need to go.....g....get some air. I think" he stutters slowly rising to his feet and I loom at Sandy as he begins to turn to walk out the door and I give her a shake of my head, knowing fully well what's she's planning to do. But she's up and walking after him before I can tell her to stop.

"Mat James Robinson get your ass back here now!!" I hear her boom and I can't help but chuckle at her words that she decided to use as she never uses them and I know he's in trouble as she never uses his full name.

"I....I need air"

"Yeah, well you might need air but she needs you more than air. Do you here me? Now Anna's not done all that just for you to walk out for 'air'" she uses here hands to emphasize the word air "you're a father Mat you can't just up and leave. I have not been with you for this many years to see you quit on someone or anything"

"But this is different. That's a baby. My baby" he says and I can almost feel him looking through the wall at her as he says that.

"No it's not Mat. Remember when I taught you to ride that bike?"

"Yeah, it was the one I got for Christmas when I was 12 and no one was willing to teach me and you stepped up and said you'd stay up with me until I could ride a bike" he says almost child-like.

"Yes and I may have stood out in that freezing snow and waited for you to do it but who was the one who fell over and you're nose was cold and looked like it was about to fall off but kept on trying?"

"Me"

"Ye and who learnt to ride a bike that night?"

"Me" he say still child-like.

"Right you didn't give up then, so why do it now?" she asks as I sit with tears in my eyes at the thoughtful words that just left her mouth and the thought of them out at night at Christmas and being able to share that moment.

"B....but I....I don't know if I'm ready"

"Well off course you are!" she says and I can Imagine her face as he says this. Probably the one that's painted on mine right now.

"No. I'm going to go and stay at my mums for a bit and clear my head. I'll, come back soon I promise" Before she can say anything else he's out of the door and down the driveway.

Sandy comes walking back in silently as tears spring to my eye. Looking down at the daughter who is another version of him.

"Let's get you to the hospital and we'll call your family" she says looking like a child that's just been scolded as the ambulance arrives and carries me away to hospital with Sandy making calls as we speak.

*******

It's been 2 days and I'm still in the hospital as they wanted to watch my heart rate as it's been high. It's been at a normal rate for nearly a day now and I can't wait to go home.
