"We're going to meet Martin at the country clubs garden." Angelina said, as she tucked a brown curl behind her ear. "Tabs and I are going to skate there." Aric said, as he picked up his skate board. She rolled her eyes looking at us. "Teenagers these days. Ill never understand them!" She said, teasing. I grinned toothily, as I waved good bye, leaving her house. "So, what do you think he'll be like?" I asked, as I propped my skate onto the cement road. "I've already met Martin." Aric said, shrugging. "No, I meant his son. The one that's your age." I corrected him. "I don't know. There's over 300 kids in our school, could be any of the guys." He shrugged again. "It narrows down though. He's been here for a few months, and has no mom." I went on. "That probably narrows down quite a bit!" I continued. He nodded before placing his skateboard on the road, taking of in mer seconds. I darted behind him, wheels rolling on the pavement.
It wasn't long before we arrived at the Country club. "Ready to meet the test of Martins family?" I ask Aric, nudging him in the ribs. "Whip that smirk off your face Tabs!" He said, staring at me blankly. I flick his nose, in a blink second he's laughing. "You can't keep a straight face, when you know I'm right!" I say, give a victorious smirk. Aric stuck out his tongue. We carried are boards in our arms, as we walked up to the front gate.
A large iron fence secured the country club. Two wide large gates, each with a design coiling up the iron bars, stood in our way. I gulped as I saw the sight before my own eyes. "Are you sure were at the right place?" I asked, shaking. "It looks like the presidents house!" I joked. He rolled his eyes at me. Aric went up to the gate, clicking on a red button. "Hi, I'm part of the picnic held in the garden." Aric said, speaking into the speaker box. "Name?" A voice asked, coming from the speaker box. "Aric. Im Angelina's son." Aric said firmly. The large gates opened widely. Aric looked back at me, sending a smile to his lips. We walked down the stone path way, leading up to a fancy large building. Was it ever large!
Inside the building, a old man behind a small desk pointed towards a hall saying, "Take this hall and go through the glass doors leading to the outside patio, from there you'll be able to handle it your self." His voice was rusty, like old pieces of food were stuck to his throat, making him sound raspy. Eww! Just the thought turns my stomach!
"Come on!" Aric said, as he pulled on my hand, dragging me behind him as he dashed down the hall. A glass pair of double doors were soon in sight. By then, Aric had let go of his grip on my hand. His hands were now tucked away in the pockets of his jeans. He whistled happily. Before opening the double doors, I nudged Aric, giving h a small wink. "It's not like Prince Charming, is my moms boyfriends son!" He said, wavering his hand. You never know! Making an entrance, Aric pulled open both doors, he stood at the foot of the door ways, with both doors open. I ducked under his arm, stepping out on to the patio. "I was going to move over so you could get by." Aric said. "I don't want to wait for ages!" I teased. Aric growled at me.The garden was prettier than I had imagined! A large water fountain was smacked in the middle, flower beds were all over! I spotted a maze off to the side, near a few trimmed trees. "There's mom." Aric said, pointing towards a few tables, where Angelina stood arm in arm with Martin. We walked over to them. Martin had broad shoulders, and small dimples at the ends of his smile. His hair was a dark brown, darker than Angelina's locks. "Tabitha! Aric!" Angelina shouted as she spotted us. I waved, giving a friendly smile to Martin. "Yo!" Aric called out, giving a short smile towards Angelina and Martin. "Martin, this is Aric's best friend. Tabitha." Angelina said, smiling brightly. "It's a pleasure to meet you Tabitha!" Martin said, smiling. "As it's a pleasure to meet you, Martin." I greeted. "Angelina has told me so much about you, it's like I already know you!" Martin joked. I laughed. "My kids went in the maze. Why don't you two go and find them before we eat." Martin suggested. I nodded, smiling as we left Angelina and Martin.
Walk into the maze, there were multiple paths we could take. "Do we go left, right, or forwards?" I asked, debating on our choices at hand. "Lets go left." Aric decided. I nodded, following down the path behind him. Without deciding the next path ways, Aric leashes his hand in mine, as he walked down a right path. "Look now! Were at a dead end." I whine. Who put Aric in charge of picking the paths? It sure wasn't me! "No duh Sherlock!" Aric teased. "This is your fault!" A far away voice yelled angrily. "Shhhh!" I demanded. My hand still attached to Aric's, I backtrack, taking the left this time. The voice getting closer, I recognized it, but who's voice was it?
We dashed around the corner, confronting the voice its self. There stood Dylan, and two kids about age 5.
These is Martins kids?
