"So good of you to join us." Mr. Demance says eyeing me up as I stumble into class.
Maybe if I attended a mortal school someone would ask about the bruise on my eye and the limp in my leg, but my school is strictly werewolves.
There are four packs that boarder each other, The Dark Sky Pack which is the pack I was born into, the three remaining packs are The Blue Shade Pack, The New Eclipse Pack and 'The Dark Knight Pack. Both The Blue Shade Pack and The New Eclipse Pack are nice enough, all the students get along and we protect each other.
The Dark Knight pack is another story, the most powerful pack in the world and home to a ruthless Alpha by the name of Theodore Blue. His pack occupies the largest amount of territory in the Northern Hemisphere. They don't send their pack members to school with us since their pack is big enough to have their own school, that and the fact that everyone is terrified of them.
Of course I only found all this out in the past few months, it's all part of being groomed to be Luna. They have to tell me enough so I can run the pack but not enough so I can run away.
"Omega."
"Y-Yes sir." Mr. Demance's words snap me out of my daydream, I move forward clumsily trying to make it to an empty desk.
"You're late."
"I-I know sir."
He raises his eyebrows at me, "why don't you tell the class why that is."
His words are followed by a few snickers from the girls as my hands start to shake. They all know exactly why I'm late it's been the same reason since I was twelve years old.
I had a meeting with the Alpha.
"I-I over s-slept." I say pathetically, lying has never been my strong point.
"If you insist Omega."
Humiliated I make a beeline for an empty desk, the stares of my classmates burn a whole in my back.
"Class today we will be learning about the supernatural." My ears perk up instantly, I've never be able to attend the werewolf classes because of my lack of wolf. However, as the future Luna it was finally decided that I would be able to attend one a week; to ensure that I possess enough knowledge to actually understand a pack.
"The supernatural by definition is the manifestation attributed by some force beyond scientific explanation defying the laws of nature. Believed by humans to be something only found in stories and movies." Mr. Demance's eyes scan the room landing on me. "Isabelle why don't you explain to us why human's think that?"
I grit my teeth he knows I've only been to three werewolf classes, none of which talked about humans.
As a member of my pack, The Dark Sky Pack Mr. Demance is well aware of my status and fate yet he still persists on making my life a living hell at school and at home.
"U-um w-well is it b-because they r-refuse to believe in w-what they cannot explain? I-In things t-that possess m-more power t-than t-."
"Stop right there Omega. The answer is that humans are narrow-minded. They like to believe they are the most powerful beings on this earth. With their guns and nuclear weapons, confiding the supernatural into stories, books, TV shows, and movies. The reality is that we." Mr Demance says gesturing to everyone in the class aside from me. "Choose to stay hidden, the few humans who are aware of our presence are known as hunters."
I shiver at the word, hunters. The enemy of all werewolves, through harnessing the greatest weakness of our kind, silver, hunters are able to capture and kill us.
"A hunter's sole purpose in life is to eliminate as many werewolves as possible. They are heartless humans who see us as monsters who should be extinct from this earth." Mr. Demance looks over at me once again, "stand up Isabelle." Not wanting more trouble, I do as I'm told.
"Now class if I am a hunter and Isabelle the werewolf." Gulping I step forward, he knows, everyone knows. I have only ever shifted once yet he chooses me to be the wolf. The irony isn't lost on me.
"What should Isabelle do?"
I watch in horror as every hand in the class goes up.
"Yes Dakota."
Dakota turns to face me her hazel eyes glisten, "she should stay where she is and get shot."
Mr. Demance cracks a small smile, "what do you think Natalie?"
Natalie eyes me for a moment before allowing a large grin to overtake her features, "I think that Isabelle should shift."
"Good answer."
"Mr. Demance?"
"Yes Natalie."
"I meant I think she should shift into her wolf now; you know since this is the werewolf class. I am a visual learner after all." Natalie added seductively flitting her eyelashes and leaning forward to allow Mr. Demance a nice view of her cleavage.
Licking his lips, he turns to me, "Natalie is right shift Omega."
I gulp his tone changed. No longer is he teasing and humiliating me, he's commanding me.
"I c-can't."
"What was that? I couldn't hear you." Mr. Demance smirked striding towards me, "to bad you're already dead."
"I u-um w-wh-."
"Sit down." Mr. Demance says as the bell rings, moving towards the door I feel myself being shoved from side to side as I fight to get out.
When my mother had first told me I would finally be able to learn about the supernatural world not just the human world I had been ecstatic. What I hadn't realised was that werewolf classes were just an excuse to humiliate people. The teachers, especially Mr. Demance thought it to be just as much fun as the students.
"Why do I have to be Luna? Maybe if I didn't I'd actually be able to get out of here." I mutter to myself glaring at the ground as if it held all the answers.
"It's so obvious no one in my pack actually wants me as Luna and there are plenty of other girls anyway, this must be some kind of joke." I continue talking to myself, receiving stares and sniggers from my peers.
"Omega I've been looking for you everywhere!" I look up to see my father's raging eyes right in front of me. Grabbing my arm, I feel my cheeks heat up as I'm dragged through the corridors and out of school.
