Everyone turned to see Finistoria and Adnaan standing there, they both looked roughed up but alive. The friends hugged as Finistoria and Mefa exchanged glances. Finistoria's face changed as she looked at the Ovion leader, and shook her head slightly to the elder in a not right now moment.
Rathamin returned to the 3D rendering of the compound on the round table, though he seemed to look beyond it and above it, not to it. All the others seem to notice the shift. Adnaan finally broke the silence, "What is it?" he asked.
"When I flew back,' he paused, "the no fly zone we came across before was gone, I flew straight through it. Why now?" Rathamin continued to stare at the compound cut away. Not to mention someone wanted us out of here before the attack, and was ready for us at Reenari.
Mefa interjected "All the times in the past, the shock troops always came from surface or exterior means, why and how did they manage to use the gateways to get in and why insert troops to the low levels?"
"Don't forget how they closed like they did," Speron added. It was like they were closed suddenly by a different source".
Finistoria asked "What do you mean, there was a difference in how they closed?"
"Yes, they seemed to shimmer and open and close a bit first, she said, then they just snapped shut, no warning'. Speron said
"It cut one soldier in half as it came through" Emily added
Finistoria wrestled with that one, she paced a bit as her mind raced, I haven't been able to hear the Ancients for a couple cycles, I wondered why, but it could be because Ro'can has lost the faith in the Ancients and has cut us off."
"Does that mean they will side with us" Adnaan asked.
"I don't think they will take sides", she sighed. "Likely just see what side wins in the end"
"Convenient" Speron interjected.
"That could be a good thing" Rathamin said thoughtfully.
"Yes, straightening the sports arena as the humans say" Finistoria looked at Emily.
"Evening the playing field" Emily interjected.
"Yes of course" Finistoria said with a satisfied smile. She smiled awkwardly at Speron and looked down.
"Now it's a safe bet Ro'can knows we have the sword and axe" Adnaan added.
Rathamin considered that for a minute, still looking at the diagram, "Ro'can isn't impulsive, He hasn't got to his position without having some cunning, but obviously things haven't gone his way so far" Rathamin trailed off.
Finistoria closed her eyes in an attempt to reach out, find out....anything. The buzzing in her head, in her body blacked every thing out. "I don't feel him or much of anything" she said with a sigh.
Mefa interjected, Ok well let's get you two cleaned up, fed and get ready for whatever is next shall we?
A short time later, Mefa watched Finistoria as she had cleaned up and was dressing as the two discussed matters of the day, Mefa regarded the angelic being suspiciously, "what happened out when you helped the boys out there?" She questioned.
Finistoria returned the look, "The guys were swarmed with Corok, I managed to get to them in time, but it was to much to fast, I took a blade to the midsection, I healed it and we got back"
Mefa shot back in a hurt tone, "BASSO! we have seen to much and been through too much for you to LIE to me!"
Finistoria looked down, steadying herself on the dressing table.
