After that talk you had with Karina, the girl excused herself saying that she needed to do something.
And so, once again you were left alone in their kitchen.
“ Oh… where is Karina? ” You heard Karina's mom asked.
“ She went upstairs po. Sabi po niya she needs to do something daw po muna. ” You said and took the apron again. “ I’ll just continue what I was doing po. ” You added and didn’t speak again.
Now Karina's mom find that confusing.
Her daughter, saying that she needed to do something? when infact her daughter always make sure that before she head downstairs, all the things that she needed to do is finish.
Karina's mom let out a sighed, as she walked her way upstairs to where Karina is.
You felt heavy inside.
You looked at yourself and just laughed.
You looked like a kid because there was icing and flour on your face and body. Your hair was indeed messy, and there was still some icing on the apron.
“ So what should I do with you? ” You asked the cake while looking at it. It was almost done, and only a few decorations were needed before it could be eaten.
“ What did I even do? ” You asked again.
You took the icing and started working on the cake again.
“ Wait… ”
After thinking and thinking you were able to think some reasons on why Karina is acting like that on you.
“ Did she hear our conversation? ” You asked yourself while keeping your attention focused on the cake. “ No, maybe she didn’t see it? Maybe she heard something wrong. Aaaah I don’t know. ” You mumbled.
You don’t know how to argue.
You don’t argue, and you always want to fix things right away. But how can you fix it if she doesn’t say anything? “ You’re making me crazy. ” you mumbled under your breath.
“ Perfect. ”
You finally finished the cake and arranged the table so you could place the dishes and desserts. “ I’m not used to you ignoring me. ” You whispered with the fact that It really feels so heavy for you.
" Anak? Karina? Baby, bakit hindi mo pinapansin si V? ” Karina's Mom asked softly, walking into her daughter's room.
Karina sighed and looked away.
“ She’s sulking. ” Her mom added.
“ She lied, ” Karina muttered, crossing her arms. “ She said she love me. ”
Her mom tilted her head. “ And? ”
“ And I heard something last night,” Karina continued, her voice shaking a little. “ She said she still loves her ex. ”
Her mom frowned. “ Are you sure? ”
Karina nodded her head as an answer.
Her mom sat beside her on the bed, concern written all over her face. “ Maybe they were just having their closure lang, anak? ”
But Karina shook her head. “ She’s lying, Mom.”
“ May narinig ka pa ba after niyan? ” she asked gently.
Karina clenched her fists. “ No. I left. Why would I even listen to them? ”
Her mom sighed deeply. “ Dumating dito si V kaninang umaga, anak. Siya nag-asikaso nitong lahat. Nagluto siya… and she made something for you. ”
Karina looked down, as she remained silent. “ I don’t know… ”
" Karina ” Her mom said, her tone firmer this time, “ hindi ninyo ‘yan maaayos kung hindi kayo mag-uusap. Maybe misunderstanding lang ‘yan. ”
Karina didn’t answer.
Karina's mom reached for her daughter's hand. “ Kausapin mo siya, anak. Bigla na lang siyang tumamlay. Kanina pa naman ang sigla niya. ”
Karina finally looked at her, her voice barely a whisper. “ What if she really lied, Mom? ”
Her mom gave her a small smile. “ Then you’ll only know the truth if you listen to her yourself. ”
Karina took a deep breath and stood up, glancing toward the door.
As she starts to think what her mom just said.
Maybe she was right.
Maybe it’s time to talk to you.
