“ Love? ” Karina called you softly.
You looked up from your phone, startled for a bit. “ Bakit po? zczxvfgnsnksc ” you mumbled under your breath, making her laugh quietly.
“ Hey, kalma. ” Karina said, her voice calm yet teasing.
“ Hi, girlfriend ko. ” you replied, your tone melting into something soft and sweet.
Karina pouted, crossing her arms. “ Gusto ko lumabas. ”
You chuckled lightly. “ Pero gabi na. ” You said after checking the time on your phone.
“ Gusto ko nga lumabas. ” she insisted, her voice sounding like a plea.
You looked at her for a moment before giving in. “ Night walk? ”
Karina’s face brightened instantly. “ Yes please. ” she said, smiling, and you swore your heart softened at that sight.
" Okay. Let's get ready na pala then after ipapaalam muna kita kay tita. " You smiles as you leave her room, walking on your way to where Karina's mom is.
A few minutes later.
“ I bought my car with me. ” you said, standing by the door.
Karina tilted her head, a soft pout forming again. “ Hindi tayo maglalakad? ”
“ Maglalakad tayo pag nandoon na. ” you replied with a small grin.
“ Okay. ” she said, and gave you that little heart gesture she always does when she’s happy.
You smiled, your voice low. “ Karina? ”
She looked at you, eyes shining softly under the dim porch light.
“ Ang ganda mo. ” you said, almost a whisper.
Her lips curved into a shy smile, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. " Bolera " she murmured as she steps closer to where you at.
You laughed quietly, opening the car door for her.
And as she slipped inside, you realized it wasn’t really about the night walk anymore.
It was about her.
Always her.
" Saan tayo pupunta? " Karina asked.
" Sa lugar kung saan ka sasaya. " You mumbled and smiled.
As soon as she entered the car, you put on her seatbelt and you kissed her forehead.
" Safety first. "
You adjusted the car and started it afterward.
" Thank you. " Karina mumbled.
It feels different now.
Karina's here as your girlfriend, as your other half, and as someone whom you want to spend your life with.
It feels better.
" Karina. " You whispered. " You are my paraluman. " you added and giggled.
You then took her hand without looking at it, she looked at you for a second with a smile, and you kissed her hand.
