By the time I reached home, the entire mansion looked like a storm had hit it — a chaotic, glittering storm made of open suitcases, fabric rolls, and my mother's never-ending shouting.

Boxes were everywhere. Dupattas hanging from chair arms. Jewelry sets scattered on the dining table like fallen treasures.
Everyone was running around — my sister barking orders, the house staff carrying gifts, my mother screaming about forgotten mehndi cones.

And in the middle of all that noise, I just stood there — still clutching my bag from college — wondering how on earth this family managed to turn even packing into a wedding battlefield.

"Tara!" my mother's voice snapped me out of my thoughts. "What are you staring at? Go, start packing your things. We leave at 8 a.m. tomorrow!"

I sighed, dragging myself upstairs. My room looked like a hurricane too — clothes thrown everywhere, half of them traditional, half of them completely inappropriate for a wedding. I kicked off my shoes and started folding whatever made sense.

Destination weddings sounded fancy — until you had to fit your entire life in two suitcases.

While stuffing clothes into a bag, my mind wandered.
It shouldn't have, but it did.

To him.

Zade Rahim.

No, Professor Zade Rahim.
The man who had made silence feel louder than words.
The man who looked right through me in class like I was invisible.

I hated how his name still echoed in my thoughts, uninvited.
He wasn't coming to the wedding — obviously.
He wasn't part of this world, of laughter and colors and chaos. He was all dark tones, sharp edges, and quiet dominance.

And yet, some stupid, irrational part of me expected to see him there.
Maybe just standing at the airport.
Maybe watching from far away like he always did.

Ridiculous.

I zipped my suitcase shut harder than necessary, as if that would silence my thoughts too.

No more thinking of him. It's enough.

Just then, a knock on the door.

Ahaan leaned against the frame, all casual grin and teasing eyes.
"Need help, Miss Overpacker?"

"Obviously," I said, throwing a dupatta at his face. "You're coming too, right?"

He raised an eyebrow. "To a week-long wedding with your dramatic family? Sounds like my version of hell."

I gave him my best pleading look — the one I knew he couldn't resist.
"Ahaan, please. I'll die of boredom without you."

He smirked, pretending to think. "Fine. But only because I like free food and chaos. And maybe watching you stress about matching outfits."
