I told myself I wouldn't come. That I'd stay the hell away from her.
I decided I would not come to this wedding, just to face her. But here I am—standing in the shadows, watching her like a man possessed.
She's laughing. Dancing. Breathing like she owns the air around her.
And I hate it. I hate every second of it.
She was standing near the stage, radiant in that lavender lehenga that shimmered every time she moved. The fabric hugged her waist, her wrists jingled with bangles, and when she threw her head back to laugh at something Ahaan said—something my brother said—I felt the air leave my lungs in one sharp, burning pull.
Because that laugh—it isn't mine. That smile—it isn't because of me. That glow on her face—it belongs to a world where I don't exist.
She twirls once more, her lehenga glimmering under the lights, and then—she collides into me. Hard chest to soft skin. My hand instinctively moves to her waist before I can think, before I can stop myself. Her breath stumbles.
For a moment, everything around us vanishes. The music fades. The laughter disappears. All I can hear is her heartbeat—wild, uneven, too damn close to mine.
Her scent hits me next. That maddening mix of jasmine and rain. And I feel something snap inside me.
Control. Gone.
I shouldn't be here. I shouldn't be touching her. But my hand stays right where it is—on her waist, her warmth searing through the thin fabric. Every nerve in my body screams to pull away. But my soul—my curse—won't let me.
She looks up at me then. Those eyes. God. Those eyes. The same eyes that defy me and still manage to undo everything I've ever believed about myself.
And suddenly, I don't care who's watching. I don't care where we are. All I care about is the way she looks at me like she's trying to hate me... but can't.
The corner of her lips curve, slow, taunting. Like she knows what she's doing to me. Like she's daring me to break.
My jaw tightens. My pulse roars.
Don't do it, Zade. Don't lose control again.
But the more I tell myself that, the more I want to.
Because she's right there—so close I can feel her heartbeat against my chest. And the worst part? She doesn't move away.
She doesn't say a word. She just looks at me... like she's waiting.
And I— I am one second away from burning the world down just to see how loud she'll say my name.
After 4 mins and 56 seconds of torturing myself with her too close to my body I am standing here at the counter looking at her.
Just few minutes before her body was against mine and now its free, free for everyone eyes and touch.
