"Mommy! Mommy!" A small curly haired child appears with a snagatooth smile on her face.
Beside me Desiree crouches down to hug our daughter. "Hey sweetie, did you have a fun with Uncle Vincent?"
"Yes ma'am. Daddy pick me up!" She moves from her mother to me with her arms outstretched. Reaching down I pick her up. "Did my little princess behave?" She nods and Vincent clears his throat.
"It was my pleasure as always," he gives us a wide grin revealing his elongated canines. "You two have a wonderful child and I'm proud of what the both of you have accomplished."
My chest swells with gratification at his words. Up until 4 years ago him and Desiree were the only family I had, then came along Lea. She's my pride and joy. Looking between little Lea and Des I feel content with what has come from what was my second chance at life.
We bid our farewells then clambered into our truck and drove off. "Where to now, my love?" I ask Desiree while holding her hand, focusing on the road.
I can feel her loving gaze on me before she replies, "Just drive babe. We'll know when we get there." A smirk crawls onto my lips as I press the gas. Looking into the backseat I see Lea sleep with her teddy bear. When she wakes we'd be in a new town, but at least we'd be together.
I groan as my eyes flutter open. "Fucking hell," I mutter causing Des to stir next to me. She wraps an arm around me pulling herself closer. Leaning down I kiss her forehead, "Rise and shine."
"Shut up and let me sleep." Her voice comes out soft and ragged but is oh so sexy. I chuckle lightly rolling her on to her back and climbing on top of her. My teeth gently graze her neck making her back arch. "Babe," she moans as I continuously tease her.
After I'm sure she's hot and bothered I roll off her and throw on some clothes. "Baby girl, I've got a meeting to attend. When I get back I want you to be ready for me. I'm hungry for more than just your blood." Winking at her I walk out of the room while she sighs in aggravation.

"We're going to send a group of 20 wolves to Portland and they'll be joined by a smaller pack that's in the area."
My current situation was excruciatingly boring. Me and Vincent were staring at the screen of his laptop Skyping with the Alpha and King.
"I shall send my son and a small group of warriors to aid you as well." The Kings voice was horse as if he was catching a cold. Perhaps the stress from the oncoming war was too much for the old timer.
From besides me I hear Vincent speak for the first time since the meeting started. "I shall stay here to assist my kindred and the wolves." He turns to look at me and I nod in agreement.
Most of the strategy talk is between the two leaders. They clashed a little bit but I think that was because their arrogant. After an hour or so Vincent told me I was free to leave. I left with the swiftness.
Instead of going back to the room immediately I walked around for a few and found myself in the dinner where Marie outed me. Taking a seat in a booth a waitress comes over, "How can I help you?"
Looking up at her smirking face I give a small smile. "Coffee. No cream, 10 sugars please." She wiggles her eye brows before leaving to retrieve my beverage. Thrumming my fingers on the table, I wait.
"Here you go. If you ever get lonely at night, call me." She passes me a steaming mug of coffee along with her number. Blowing me a kiss she turns to walk away as another customer walks in. My attention was fully consumed by the dark liquid in my glass that I hadn't even noticed someone across from me.
"Hey," her soft voice floats to my ears causing me to jump. My head flicks up so quick my neck cracks.
"Marie, you can't sneak up on me like that."
She smiles. "First off, I didn't sneak up. And second, what brings you here all by your lonesome?"
Letting my head droop I think about how to answer. She places her hand on mine in a show of comfort. "Last night I asked Desiree to marry me," her eyes widen.
"And what did she say?"
"It's what she didn't say. She didn't give me an answer, just kissed me. I... I don't know that I did wrong."
The expression on her face breaks my heart into even smaller pieces. There was no hope. I'd lost Des forever.
As if she could read my thoughts she shushes me. "Skye don't think like that. You still have a chance. She didn't say no, just give her time. She loves you, even though she's a bitch and I despise her, I know she loves you. There is still hope."
"Are you doing that whole mind reading thing?"
She laughs at my accusation. "No actually you were thinking aloud."
"Ohh honey now, take me into your loving arms, kiss me under the light of a thousand-"
"Skye shut the fuck up. Please. Your voice. It's horrible."
I break into a crooked grin as we laugh together and enjoy each others company.
"Marie? Why were you against taking me to your Alpha?"
She looks away self conscious. "Because he's uh... He's m-my mate."
Now it's my turn to be shocked. "Are you serious?" She nods, blushing furiously. "You go girl!" My voice comes out girly and frill causing her to laugh.
"Oh hush. Now why are you still sitting here with me Romeo? Go get your Juliet!"
I stare at her bored, "Yeah like it's that simple Casanova." We burst into a fit of giggles and I place a 20 dollar bill on the table before standing to leave. "Wish me luck," I say with a wink.
She blushes before whispering, "Luck Romeo."
With a toothy smile on my face and confidence in my chest I stroll through the doors and down the street purposely. The walk was 20 minutes, but the frigid night air made it seem much longer. Not wanting to waste much time I take the stairs at admirable speed.
Outside of my room door I hesitate. Taking a deep breath my nerves subside enough for me to push the door open and walk inside.
"Hey baby girl, I'm back." My voice carries throughout the room. I wait for her response but it never comes. Walking farther inside panic starts to over come me as I realize she's no where to be found.
Pulling my phone from my pocket I call her repeatedly but the first 16 times all I got was voice mail. Finally on the 17th call she answered.
"Princess! Oh my-"
"This isn't your princess fucktard." A males deep voice cuts me off. My body goes rigid and my heart stops. Literally. "As a matter of a fact, you'll never see your princess again. After this moment, she's mine. You wretched blood tramps think that everything belongs to you, well your wrong. Goodbye Lea, have fun living life without your mate." The line goes dead.
Crumpling to the ground my vision is tinged in a sickly red glare. A loud animal like growl rips through my throat as pure rage consumes me. Whoever he was, he had my Desiree, and I wouldn't rest until she was back in my arms.
