Skye POV
Me and Marie were standing on the dock that the boat house was anchored to preparing our selves.
She turns to me with a fire burning in her eyes that I've never seen before. "Skye, I hope you know there's a chance that one of us might not make it out."
"Yeah, I know. Just do me a favor, please?" I look at her as I clench my fists. "Make sure you take care of Desiree. No matter what, promise, you'll take care of her."
The fire dims a little at my words but she nods in understanding. Letting out the breath I'd been holding I step from the doc to the boat. As I close in on the door, I hear a loud growl which sends adrenaline through my veins. I try the door nob, but of course, it's locked. Taking a few steps back, I throw myself at the door making it swing open.
I stumble in, with a slight pulsing in my right shoulder. Marie walks in behind me, grabbing my good arm to make sure I don't fall. Another growl comes from deeper in the house.
Following the sound we find what nightmares are made off. Des was standing beside the bed stark naked with a bag over her head. The stench of blood hung low in the air making me salivate almost immediately. My teeth elongate, and I turn my attention to the man wearing only boxers.
"Glad you could finally make it," a sinister smile graces his lips making my blood boil.
Lunging forward I reach for his throat but feel rough hands wrap around my waist. Suddenly I'm thrown off course and my body collides with what I presume is the wall. Looking back at the scene before me I see Marie and the man, both shifted into their wolves, battling. Des was now on the ground, blood pooling around her body as a slight tremor went through her.
Mustering all of my remaining energy I crawl over to her and inspect her wounds.
He'd bitten her.
I cup her face in my hands. This was the last time I'd see my baby as a human. Then a thought occurs to me, if Edward could do it, why can't I?
"I love you, my angel..."
Closing my eyes I send a silent prayer to the heavens before making an incision on my left palm as well as hers. I grasp her hand in mine, forming a blood bridge, before pressing my lips onto her wounded shoulder. Taking deep gulps I try to cleanse her blood of any wolf venom.
My head becomes hazy with blood lust and power. I pull back as I'm overtaken by my primal instincts. Jumping to my feet I throw my head back as I bare my fangs and let lose a snarl. My finger bones elongate and become a twisted shadow of the things I once held my love in.
Using my sense of smell I run out of the room and leap from the door I once busted through onto the deck. All sounds of a scuffle are drowned out by my unrecognizable vocals. Reaching out a clawed hand I grasp the man by the throat and lift him from the ground.
I open and close my mouth forming what should be words, but the only sound to be heard was a series of growls and snarls. Closing my hand a little more, I can feel the bones begin to crack under the pressure. Looking him in the eyes I let a smirk caress my features as the light slowly fades from his eyes. Once the light was completely extinguished, the only thing left was the shallow beat of his gruesome heart.
My hand snakes out quickly, penetrating the skin, bone and fur of his chest before wrapping around my prize. Pulling my hand from his open chest cavity I bring his heart with me and let him go. His dead body falls to the ground, slowly morphing back into a human male.
"S-Skye...?" My head whips around and I see a very bloody, very scared Marie. Her body shook with fear.
Just as I opened my mouth to speak, a loud blood curdling scream pierced the night. Something hard strikes the back of my head and I fall, my cheek hitting the damp wood. Another scream pierces the night as my vision goes black.
