Y/N POV:
I used to live with my mom, dad, and two older brothers and ever since I was little, I was expected to cook, clean, and do whatever my family needed me to do and if I didn't do it right I was yelled at, hit, or would have to starve for not meeting my family's expectations. Being raised like this made me not care about or mind all the yelling or punishments, since I knew they loved me and just wanted the best for me so I would succeed when I got married and had kids. Knowing this made me able to do my part in my family, which was staying home and doing all the housework while my parents and my brothers went to work. So, when the police knocked on my door one day, when it was just me and my oldest brother home, and told me that my parents and other brothers had died in a car wreck, because of a drunk driver, I was scared and afraid since I didn't know how to do anything other than housework. But I was able to compose myself since I had at least basic knowledge about the real world since I knew how to live on my own and could take care of myself but my oldest brother wasn't as composed about the news of our parents' death as I was.
"How are we supposed to live off what mom and dad left us?" My brother said while slamming his fists on the table in rage.
"We could probably sell some stuff if we need to," I flinched at the sound of his yelling as I tried to give him an idea on how to get us some money. "I'm sure we can make it work!"
"Why don't you just go start making dinner while I look for more money?" He sighed in frustration but also clearly too upset to yell or hit me.
I nodded my head in defeat before walking into the kitchen and looking through the pantry for ingredients so I could make food for me and my brother.
He's just stressed out, I'm sure it can't be that bad, right?
"UGH!" I heard my brother yell in frustration from the living room.
"What's wrong?" I asked from the kitchen as I cooked the Hamburger Helper that I found in the cabinet.
"I can't find a job that wants to hire me!" He said while walking into the kitchen while holding his phone in his hand.
"I could find a job if you want me to?" I asked while looking at him with sympathy, feeling bad that he couldn't find a job even though he graduated from college.
"You?" He asked with a bitter laugh before glaring at me again. "Do you know how hard it is to find a decent job around here?"
"We can look for jobs together," I said with a hopeful smile as I turned off the oven once the food was done. "Come on it will be so fun!"
"Fine," he said while trying to find a clean plate so he could get some food. "The next time I go job searching I will take you with me."
"Thank you so much!" I said happily before running over to hug him.
