CHAPTER SIX

The sun peeked through the window , and tip toed down her naked back.  She could feel the warmth on her body as she stirred in bed.  She rolled over and at that moment, she was awake and realized Brian was already gone.  She looked over at the night stand and saw a single rose with a note attached to it.  She reached over and slowly unfolded the little piece of paper attached to the long stem rose.  She pulled it out, put it up against her nose and smelled it, as she closed her eyes, she smiled.  The night she had with Brian was delightful, they ate Cuban sandwiches, and drank Corona's with Lime.  They danced to Salsa and Meringue for what seemed like all night.  The evening she had with Brian was magical and she liked what was happening between them. She felt like she could be herself around him.  The more she thought about it the more she realized she could get used to being with him.  She glanced at the note, it read;  Good morning beautiful, had an early meeting, but I will definitely call you later, P.S. thanks for last night, it was amazing.  She smiled to herself as she smelled the long stem rose again.  Her thoughts were naughty to say the least.  Brian made love to her last night like she was the only woman on the planet and she was really feeling him.  She got up and headed for the shower, she had an early meeting too and she was excited about her new client.  She also had an appointment with an alarm company she called, so she could change the alarm system to her house.  She wanted cameras installed as well, and this company came highly recommended.  This company had the ability to connect her cell phone to the monitors so she could check in on her house while she was away from home and that is just what she needed.   Once that was in place and she felt safe again, she would go home.  She turned Pandora on, as headed toward the bathroom to shower.  The sweet harmonious sounds of Torri Kelly's voice danced around the huge bathroom of her hotel suite.  She was finally feeling like she belonged some where, now if she could only find out where the hell Teddy was.  She was anxious about it, but she had no choice but to wait to hear back from Roland.

She got dressed, a gray and white pint stripped pant suit is what she decided on.  She wanted to look business like today and not so glamorous.  Even though the temperature in Miami was going to hit the high 90's today, she looked forward to being inside with air conditioned offices, the only time she didn't mind sweat was if she was at the gym or in her bedroom.  She felt good this morning and she wore a smile that could light up any room.   As she walked to her truck, she juggled her at-ache, her keys, and her purse.  She was ready to turn a new page in her life.  As she got in her truck, her phone began to ring.  She picked it and answered right away.  It was Roland calling.  "Hey Roland, I hope you have some good news for me".  "Hey Beverly, just wanted to touch base and let you know that I will be flying out to Atlanta tonight, I got another hit on his credit card and I am going to have to go down there and do a more thorough investigation".  "Oh, well I guess I figured that,... she let out a sigh... this is going to be harder than I thought".  "When there is a possible chance that a person doesn't want to be found, it's very hard, if he wanted to disappear, he could make that happen, if he had the means and a damn good reason"; he said firmly.  "I agree", she said; strongly.  "Is there any reason you could think of that would make him want to disappear Beverly?".  She paused for a moment, and all she could think of was Reynaldo Gutierrez.  She knew that might be the reason Teddy was trying to lay low, but she didn't let on to that.  She was totally involved and they had gotten away with a 10.5 million dollar heist and she would take that to her grave.  She wasn't about to risk blowing it all up for nothing.  "I'm not sure why he is doing this, and I don't have a reason for it, but I do know I need your help with finding him Roland".  She said passionately. "Alright, enough said, my flight to Atlanta leaves at 6 pm, and I'll be on it".  "Thank you so much Roland, is there anything else you need from me?" she questioned.  "Well, I have most of the pertinent information, but I'm going to need a last known address, I've already got the credit card information, so for now that's all I have to go on".  "Did he work Beverly?"  She paused again...and didn't really know what to say.  "Well the last few years he did odd jobs here and there, he really never stayed in one place for too long, but he did like to travel, I also know he did have a convenience store at one point, but eventually he sold it because he didn't have the patience to deal with all the red tape of owning a business like that" I know that he has also invested money in a couple of other businesses, she responded carefully.  "Well, sounds like your friend likes to live a certain lifestyle, and if traveling is involved that might make it harder to find him, I just want you to know Beverly, I am working on it, and something will surface sooner or later".  "Well I appreciate that Roland, I really do, call me when you land and have a safe trip, I am on my way to work for a meeting, so we'll be in touch".  "Alright my friend, he responded; I'll call you soon, and don't worry, I'm gonna find him".  "Thanks again Roland", she said lightly, as she disconnected the line, she sat in her truck in deep thought. She wondered what the hell Teddy was doing, and she was more nervous now than ever.  She didn't want this to blow up in her face and she was prepared for the aftermath of the Gutierrez take down.  By the time her and Teddy split the money up she ended up with 5.2 million dollars, she had built her online business up from scratch, and that was her own success.  she had a house in Miami, a small boat, and she also had a small piece of land in the Cayman Islands, that she wanted to build on eventually, not to mention the off shore accounts that kept her money hidden.  She felt a sudden urgency come over her to get to the bottom of this mystery.  She had to put this to rest as soon as she found Teddy.  If not, her future might not be so bright.  She wanted to protect Teddy and herself as well.  She knew what was at risk, and if anyone found out it was her and Teddy that organized the heist, she could be facing jail time, or worse if Gutierrez's son's or anyone affiliated were tipped off.  She tried to put it out of her mind as she put her truck in reverse and headed to her office.
