As I walks out of the nurse's office, school was already out. How was I supposed to get home? I missed the bus...
"Need a ride?"
I turned to see Shane standing behind me, his school bag sling over his shoulder casually.
"A-A ride?" I asked, a little unsure.
"Yeah," Shane said, "My car's in the parking lot. I can bring you home."
I shook my head. "O-Oh no, you don't have to do that..." I said, scooting away.
"Okay, let me rephrase that. I am bringing you home," Shane said, "You don't have an option."
I sighed. Why wouldn't Shane just leave me alone? I mean, I know I need help and of course he knows I do, but he doesn't have to smother me... "Fine," I muttered, following him to the car.
I'm not into cars, so I don't know what kind of car it was, but Shane's car was obviously really nice and expensive. Some sort of black sports car.
He opened the door for me and I climbed in, buckling up. He then climbed in on the driver's side, buckling up himself and starting the car. The engine purred like a cat. I was really impressed.
"How did you get a car like this?" I asked, amazed.
Shane smiled as he backed out. "Well, when you're the oldest and you have a mom that likes to paper you for getting straight A's, you get nice things," he said, turning the car onto the street and driving out.
I sighed. "I wish I had a car. I wish I had my driver's license too..." I said, glancing out the window.
"It'll come eventually," Shane said, "Until then, I'll take you home. No bus anymore."
I glared at him. "Stop controlling me!" I whined, crossing my arms.
"I'm not trying to control you. I'm just trying to watch over you."
"Whatever," I mumbled and sighed. I didn't feel like arguing with him today... I was tired an needed to save my energy for work... I quickly told him my address and stared out the window, trying to ignore him. What was I going to eat before work? Maybe I can keep down a pop tart...
Shane soon pulled up into the drive way of my house and I climbed out, slinging my bag over my shoulder. I then turned around confused when I heard Shane's door open.
"What are you doing?" I asked, confused.
"What does it look like? I'm getting out," Shane responded, shutting his door and locking it.
"I didn't invite you in!"
"so?"
"T-That means you. Can't just walk into my house uninvited! Are you stupid?!"
"No I'm just curious."
"About what?!"
"What your house looks like. What kind of food is in your pantry."
I tended up but sighed and gave in. "Fine but you can only stay for a few minutes. I have work in half an hour..." I fished the house keys out of my pocket and unlocked the door, stepping inside. Shane followed behind, looking around curiously. "it's not much..." I mumbled, "I can't really buy nice furniture..." I fling my school bag on the 'couch', which was literally just two old, beat up recliners, then went upstairs to change out of my school uniform. I pulled on a black button down long sleeve shirt and a pair of faded black skinny jeans. That's okay, I guess... I slipped on my converse before putting on a red tie. It's all about dressing nice.
I hopped down the stairs to see Shane snooping through my pantry. I sighed and shoved him away from it, grabbing a pop tart.
"That's all you're eating?" Shane asked, his voice full of disbelief.
"Yeah. It's only 2:30," I said, "I'm not that hungry..."
"But you're a guy! How can you not be hungry all the time?" he asked.
I shrugged and said, "I just don't. I care about my health you know."
His face then turned angry. "Care about you're health?! Look at yourself, Colby! Look in the mirror! Look at how your ribs are visible! Look at how you're arms and legs are so skinny they look like they can snap in two! Don't say you c-care about you're health when you look like that... Please don't..." He started out yelling, but his voice faded into a whisperer. His face was sad and full of worry.
He's right... I don't care about my health. I don't even care if I'm living or not...
I felt hot tears run down my cheeks, holding back a sob. I was a mess. I didn't mean to have my life turn out like this... Eating just became a hassle so I stopped. I didn't mean... to make Shane worry. Or my boss. Or the nurse...
I suddenly felt Shane's hand grip my wrist, which pulled me out of my thoughts. "S-Shane, what are you-" I started to say until I was cut off as Shane yanked me toward him, making me stumbled and fall on him. Before I knew it, his lips were on mine, kissing me deeply. My mind was blank, still trying to comprehend what was going on. When it clicked, my eyes widened.
W-What was going on?
