"Hey baby, what'd you want for breakfast?" Miniko asked SJ who was sitting next to his dad. Yoongi himself was napping on the table, waiting until his fiancé wakes him up for breakfast (again). The five-year old was bouncing in his chair, excited because today was the day they were going to shop for his uniform and supplies for school. "Anything, Umma!" He yelled. He was grinning to the point of his eyes almost disappearing into crescents. It looked like he had just gotten fed a ton of sugar and coffee from his excess hyper-ness.
Miniko chuckled quietly and pet the top of his head before going to make her plan for breakfast. "Yoongi?" She called, grabbing the ingredients needed to make seaweed soup. Her fiancé lightly snored in response. She rolled her eyes before turning to her son who was eagerly waiting for breakfast. "Seokkie, can you try to wake up, Appa? If you do, or can't wake him up, you can go play or read a book while we're cooking, okay?"
"Okie dokie!" He replied cutely. SJ scotted closer to Yoongi and began harshly poking his father in the arm while repeating 'Appa'. Yoongi just dug his head deeper into his arms, making SJ pout. A plan formed in his head and he got off his stool, going a few few feet behind his dad. "APPAAAAA!" He screamed, jumping onto Yoongi's back.
Yoongi jerked forward, hitting his head on the table and thankfully waking up. "Ow," he grumbled. He turned his head to attempt to look at his grinning son, an imaginary halo floating above his head. "Min Raymond Seokjin Junior, you're grounded, no shopping."
SJ's happy, innocent face soon got replaced by a face full of sadness and depression. He began to wail, not understanding why he got in trouble when it was Miniko who told him to wake him up.
"Yoongi," Miniko scolded.
Yoongi sighed softly and looked at his son, fists by his eyes wiping away the tears and mouth opened largely to let out his wails and sobs. He got off his chair and went to go hug SJ, in an attempt to calm him down. But the young boy ran away as he shouted "No, Appa!" He ran and hugged Miniko's leg.
"Baby, Appa didn't mean it. He's just grumpy because he's tired. But he's all better now, so why don't you hive him a hug," Miniko cooed. Her worried eyes met Yoongi's guilty, upset ones. His eyelids drooped, not from his sleepiness, but from his sadness.
SJ shook his head and wailed harder. "No! I don't want Appa! I don't wanna hug, Appa! I want Jin samchon to be my appa!"
Both parents froze when they heard Seokjin Junior yell those words. Miniko hiked SJ onto her hip and tried to catch Yoongi. But he ran away, down into his studio and slammed the door harshly, a loud boom coming from the securely shut door. She could just imagine him sliding down against the door, covering his face as he cried, wishing he could be a better appa, wishing he was there for the first two years of his son's life. The son who apparently wanted his friend instead of him.
"Umma?" SJ looked up to Miniko's distraught face, noticing the little tears in her eyes. Her hand reached out to the door and she rested her hand flatly onto the door. She quietly whispered Yoongi's name before clenching her hand onto a fist and apologizing. SJ grabbed the side of her shirt and urgently tugged on it, wanting to know what was happening and why they were suddenly so sad.
Miniko looked back to SJ, stroking the side of his face with her thumb. "You're so innocent, baby," she whispered. SJ's worried eyes met what he thought was Miniko's calm eyes, but were laced with sadness and fear. He continuously tugged on the side of her shirt, scared with the strange way his mother was acting. He's seen her be depressed, he's seen her be calm, relaxed, he's seen her bubbly happiness. But Miniko was never so scarily calm in a situation as strange at this was.
"Umma! Stop it!" He yelled, tears beginning to fall down his cheeks. He wiggled his way out of her arms and hit the door with his fists. "Appa! Appa! Umma's acting strange! Please help!"
On the other side of the door, Yoongi was trying to control his quick breathing. He couldn't control his hyperventilating and racing, beyond racing heartbeat. It felt like he couldn't even breath for that matter. His body felt faint, like it was slowly and painfully slipping away. The ground felt like it was shaking under him, and he tried to clutch it for support, but the painful twist in his stomach stopped him.
Miniko hugged SJ, stroking his soft, dark brown hair. "Baby, you hurt Appa's feelings. He tries very hard for you, when he was away he always tried to make the time he got with you as special as possible. Appa loves you so much, baby, it hurt him real badly when you said you didn't want him to be your appa. He's very grumpy when you wake him up, and he's sorry for hurting your feelings."
SJ tightly hugged his mother back, crying softly into her shoulder. "I'm sorry, Umma!" He cried.
Miniko kissed the top of his head, now rubbing his back to calm him down. "Baby, you have to apologize to Appa. Not me."
SJ quietly got out of Miniko's warm embrace and gently laid against the door. "A-Appa," he spoke, stuttering softly. Tears were still running down his cheeks, and hiccups were soon to come but he didn't care. "I-I'm s-sorry. I want you to be my appa. I love you."
But what SJ was returned with, was a loud thud from the door as Yoongi threw his head back. The pain of this panic attack killing him, he felt like he was going to die. Miniko told SJ to move out of the way before pressing her ear to the door. She heard his quick, rapid breathing and the soft, weak whimpers that were heard here and there.
Miniko ran upstairs to their shared room and grabbed the keys that unlocked every door in the house. She ran back down and unlocked the door. Picking SJ up, she slowly opened the door, Yoongi falling onto his back, tears from eyes running down the sides of his pale face and onto the soft carpeted floor.
Both gasped and scrambled to help the fallen father. Miniko helped him sit upright while SJ gave him a side hug, profusely apologizing as he dug his head into his father's side. Miniko also hugged him, occasionally kissing his cheek, or the corner of his eyes. But, both held onto the man who felt like he was slipping away.
The family stayed like that until the panic attack passed, and even after Yoongi's breathing and heart rate had returned to normal. He wrapped his arms around his two loves, kissing each of their heads. "I love you two," he whispered, securing them in his arms.
"I love you too, Appa. I'm sorry for hurting your feelings," SJ repeated. Yoongi smiled weakly and kissed the top of his head again, lingering for a few moments to make his love and acceptance be shown. He rested his forehead there, his smile turning soft and strong.
"Yoongi-yah," Miniko whispered. Yoongi turned his head to his lover, noting the tears still fresh in her eyes. Her bottom lip trembled, and her arms tightened around him. "You scared me so badly. I thought I was going to lose you. I don't want to, I-I can't."
"I'll try my hardest to stay by your side, sweetie bird. I don't intend on leaving again. Only to finish the military," Yoongi murmured. He inched his head closer and closer to Miniko's head, before there was barely an inch gap between their lips. Finally, Yoongi smiled, closed his eyes, and leaned in to leave a sweet, passionate kiss on her sweet lips.
