District 2

Peeta left early this morning. Again I had thrown up. This has been going on for a good week. I get up take a quick shower then head to Haymitch house. I knock and knock and nobody answers I finally let myself in. The house is still a mess so I decided to clean up. Haymitch is passed out on the couch with a liquor bottle in his hand. I clean all the bottles and trash on the floor and put it in the trash. It's not spotless but at least you can walk. I won't disturb him so I go ahead and leave in my way to eat at the Hob.

After I finish I head to Sage, district 12 doctor. I knock on the door and she comes to answer. "Katniss hello! Nice to see you what can I do for you?" She questions. "Yea hi well I've been throwing up in the mornings it's been going on for a week now and I wanted to ask you what it could be." Sage seems to already know what it is she smiles brightly "I think I may know but just to be sure can you pee in this cup?" I take it and go to the restroom. I come back with the cup and hand it to her she then takes it and does some test. We sit and chat as we wait for the results.

Sage looks at the results and smiles. "What is it? What's wrong with me?" "Nothing absolutely nothing Katniss. But congratulations! Your pregnant!" I'm in shock. I can't believe it. I'm really pregnant. How? Me and Peeta didn- wait the night of our honeymoon. I then smile and thank her. As I walk back home I start to think. My kids will find out about the games. How I killed kids my age to survive. How I was and still am the Mockingjay. Now I'm going to wake up Haymitch. Well shouldn't Peeta be the first to know? Yes. I'll wait for him to call later.

In the mean time I need to start looking for baby items. Even though I don't know the gender I can still get the essentials. Then the phone rang. I ran to get it and it said district 2. Peeta! "Peeta!" I exclaimed. Nobody said anything. "Peeta?" I said softer this time. "I'm...I'm pregnant." I get out. The line goes dead. What if it wasn't Peeta? Maybe someone else was trying to talk to me. I'll tell Peeta when he gets home so I can see his reaction.

I'm flipping threw the channels when I land on the news. Someone has committed suicide. Then a gasp escapes my mouth when I see who it is. Gale. Hanging from a rope on a tree with another rope tied next to him. Next to it I see a carving which reads: Katniss, are you coming to the tree? A tear falls on my cheek as I read it. What if he was the one calling me. Did he still love me? Was that his last straw? To hear I'm pregnant with, not his, but Peeta's baby? Did he miss me and wanted to hear my voice again? So many questions run threw my head as I silently cry.

The phone rings as I answer it still crying. "Hello?" I ask silently. "Katniss? Babe what's wrong?" Peeta asks worriedly. I while my tears. "The news. Gale committed suicide." I get out. "Oh honey I'm so sorry I didn't know. Do you want me to come home early?" He questions. "No, no it's okay Peeta really." "Okay well I have to go I love you I'll talk to you soon." "Okay bye I love you too and when you get back I have something to tell you." I say starting to smile. "Alright bye." "Bye." I hang up and decided to go for a walk.

As I'm walking I pass buy the school. Old and run down I remember Peeta mentioning how they were going to remodel the school for this coming class. There aren't that many kids here in 12 but enough that we need a school.

Then I reach the meadow. The place my father took me when I was a little girl. Where Gale took the last of 12 to safety in 13. I grab my bow deciding to hunt for a while.
It starts to get dark as I decided to head back home. I reach the house and put my game bag on the counter and skin it. Then shower and fall sleep hopefully no nightmares will come as Peeta isn't here to calm me down.

I wake in the Capitol. Peeta and I are in adjoining cells. He was whipping Peeta and I every other day we had to watch the other get beat and whipped while the next we would get the beatings. But today was different it was my day. I called out for Peeta screaming and crying. He was screaming my name but my mouth was so dry it only came out as a whisper. Then the door opened and there he was, looking at me crying with red puffy eyes. He started going mad as I tried to get up, I had to tell him. I couldn't catch a breathe. "Peeta...will you...stay...with me?" I manage to get out. I know it isn't a luxury we can afford but I have to keep trying. Even thought Peeta was still crying his eyes out thrashing to try and get to me he said "Always." Right before I took my last breathe I looked at him, the love of my life, with a small sad smile I said "you were gonna be a daddy..."

I wake screaming and thrashing crying for Peeta. All of a sudden someone runs up the stairs into my room and turns on the lights, Peeta. I scream. "No! Stop! It isn't real! Your not real!" It isn't true. He's in District 2 on a business trip. I start to say what I know is real. My name is Katniss Everdeen. I live in district 12. Peeta is my husband. He's in district 2 on a business trip. He will be back in a week. I had a nightmare. This isn't real. This isn't real.

"No no Katniss! I'm real. I got back early to suprise you I promise! I love you. I'm your husband. We're in district 12! Katniss please listen to me I love you!" At that I look up. Peeta he's here. In our house. "Peeta?" I question. "Katniss it's me I love you." He tells me. I run to him and hug him. It was a nightmare. It's not real. Peeta he's real. We're together, happy. This is real.
