"Well, Mrs and Mr Michaels, I'm confident to say that, due to the fulfilment of documentation, and close observations of your home, for a few months, I can proudly say;"Miss Millie is now, as of today your daughter!"

The woman whom we met during the entire process said. A smile of approval made it's way to her lips and...final relief? Her hair pinned back in a bun, clipboard held to her sized chest. A look that scratched saying 'finally' was seen in her eyes for a mid second.

Sebastian sat beside me. The window. breezed a little air as one of the windows was open.

The office room, where we were in, seemed to hold whatever this woman was feeling even with the slightest air.

"Thank you . We're a pretty constructional family. So we'll be sure to add her onto that structure."

the calm polite tone and confidence when Sebastian says this , seemingly eases out whatever this woman was feeling earlier. Their face of earlier worry escaping them.

She sighed. "That's a relief, as you probably know by your encounter situation with Millie, it's been rather challenging finding her an.. well... Attentive pairing? A functional active family who can actually be there through her life if you will."

I nodded and Sebastian listened.

It was going just as I wanted, with Sebastian by my side I didn't feel the need to be nervous. I hadn't realized my nerves until we'd settled down.

Up to now we have no clue of who exactly this girl would be, she was new, another being. Now that I think about this my mind rises to curiosity. I wanted to know more. I wanted to be there for her.

Millie

"I can't believe this!" I cried.

upstream laughter comes out of Kelly's mouth and I want to punch her teeth in suddenly.

"What are you so pissed about, anybody would love to be in your shoes right now."

Kelly says all serious like she's known my life. I've only met this girl for 2 months and I already want to punch her face in.

"You don't know me." I spoke harshly. Still grabbing what little things I did have, to escape before I was chosen to be some other couple's beating bag.

The girl's eyes narrowed clearly, not liking the way I've been talking. But I don't care.

She leaned on the bars of the two bunk beds that connected two beds one on top of the other.

"Well all I know is kids have been here longer than you, and you're the first to actually be looked for ,for adoption. In just two months. They're all gone now, but it wasn't just me and the twelve other boys."

I wanted to tell her I've been through this all before, from day one different homes, though different situations, all leaving me to change my view point on how I saw life. But somehow I just didn't.

She sighed "You're making a mistake you know. You could be happy."

Happy. As if I'd hadn't tried with people, who only saw me as a means to make money off of fostering me.

I pivot up myself and open the window. "This life isn't meant for me." I said not really looking back anymore. But just as I was going to hop onto the window's opening sill,

"Ah child what are you doing!? get down from there you're going to fall!!!"

A panicked voice startled me. And it caused my foot to slip. And then indeed. Felt back with my own panicked gasp.

"SEB–!" I heard a familiar woman's voice shriek. My eyes clamped shut, but just when I thought I was going to fall, I felt a pair of strong capable arms around me.

My eyes opened back. And a man who looked familiarly from somewhere; eyes looked down into mine. Looking....angered?

They immediately set me back on my feet shortly after preventing my fall.

"Are you asking to get hurt!?" Miss Anna's voice exasperatedly said in disbelief. I rolled my eyes.

Suddenly two unfamiliar yet familiar faces are both in the room.

EMERSON

"I'm sorry Mrs and Mr Michaels, I haven't the clue why, but she's been like this for as long as she's been here. Honestly her actions are out of our control. " Anna.

Who's name we learned. complained. Me and Sebastian looked at each other.

"Uh what the hell do you mean control? I don't need to be controlled! I do best, by myself thank you lady!"

I blinked my eyes widened by the way she was speaking to this woman.

"Uhhhh..." Sebastian's lips turned a firm line. His face is a serious expression by the girl's clear demeanor. It's clear he's not happy with how she'd spoken.

My hand on his back shoulder, slowly rubbing , I can tell,it's a lot for him to be holding back, considering she's just met us... Face to face.

It surprises me. He doesn't just discipline the girl right here and now. But then again he isn't one to react on impulse.

"Excuse me? Child." Ann's voice wavered to something not quite knowing as she looked at Millie. The girl clearly not being taught manners rolled her eyes once again.

The girl's attention then left Ann's and to us. The girl who's named 'Kelly' leaned back on the pillow on one bed just watching all this back- and- forward- talk back from our now child;Millie.

"Who are they anyway?" Millie asked in an irritated tone. Arms crossed over her chest as if she can't stand this entire ideal.

Sebastian's brow rose in disapproval, but just like any polite start to conversation. Answered. "My name is Sebastian, and this is my wife-" He gestures to me as I step forward, a reluctant smile raising my face. "Emerson."

I bent down to her level. Sebastian watching eyes is on me as I tried to reason with Millie.

Her eyes fixed in a narrowed gaze. "Yeah. We came to be your family. Hon. and want to give you the best life. We've decided to give this a chance. We heard about what's happened with homes you've been with before...We want to change all that and love and cherish you. So we've decided to be your parents!"

I spoke gently, my hands placed on her shoulders.

Sebastian seeing me can't help ,but be moved by my sound of reassuring her. The smile is almost visible. Despite the recent atmosphere.

Just then an assistant announced that Millie's luggage was set in our trunk.
