Ariel POV

I never wanted this responsibility on my shoulders. I never wanted to be stuck in a team with my rival. I never wanted any of this. I'm sorry let me introduce myself. My name's Ariel. I have cream colored skin,  jet black hair, and pixie-like features. I can control air. I gained this power recently, and that's when the story started...

I was walking to high school with my best friend Viara.( pronounced Vee-ah-rah ) It was our very first day of high school and we were very excited. I was wearing my long hair in pigtails, a white loose top, blue jean shorts, white flats with black bows at the toes, and a sliver chain with an eagle shaped charm covered in small white pearls. Viara walked next to me wearing her blonde hair down in layers, framing her face. She wore an aqua colored top which matched her eyes, a black skirt, black flats, and a sliver chain with a dolphin figurine that had a aquamarine stone on it's stomach.
"Ariel you look amazing! I don't know why people call me one of the prettiest girls in school. You should be on that list." Viara stated.
"You think I should be on that list. Girl get a mirror, you should be considered the prettiest girl in our school. Instead you're playing second fiddle to Nina." I reply snarkily.
Nina Carson is the most popular girl in the school. With her long silky curly black hair, smooth skin the color of cocoa, and that thin elegant figure, she is easily the prettiest girl in our school. I hate her. She is very smart and obnoxious. Usually I strike out in looks, so I aim for smarts. I could easily be the smartest girl in school if it wasn't for Nina. Basically she's my rival.
"Stop thinking about her Ari. You're gonna drive yourself crazy jealous."
Viara snapped me out of my dark thoughts. "I am not jealous of her Vi" I said surprisingly calm. I mean Nina stole lot's of thing from me. My title of being the smartest girl at school, my popularity, and my ex- best friend Elisa. Elisa was one of those people who other consider problematic or troublesome, but I always viewed her as rebellious. Elias had long chocolate hair, warm brown eyes like mine, and she always wore a gold chain around her neck with a snake figurine with bits of emerald in it's body. Elisa ditched Nina later on but we still aren't hanging out. One day she just got fed up with me and left. Off key singing jolted me out of my muddled thoughts. Viara was screeching Shake it Off by Taylor Swift. I gave her a smile and joined in.
