Beach Day

Ariel POV

After that surprisingly peaceful run in with Nina, I went to buy a swimsuit. When I was searching the racks in Macy's, that little run in stayed in my mind. I have no idea why we didn't end up yelling like mad women. I shoved that thought out of my mind and focused on my cute swimsuit. It was a white one piece with sky blue spirals all over it. It kinda reminded me of the air symbol in Avatar:The Last Airbender.
As I walked home, I ran into Danielle Richardson, or shall I say Shallow Rich Kid. "I seem to be running into nerds today. I hate it. Oh well, carry my bags over to that car."
Danielle shoved her 100 bags at me and sashayed over to the car. I stumbled over my feet trying to shuffle over and not drop anything. When I finally dropped all hundred bags in her car, she handed me my swimsuit and 5 bucks. When I looked at her, she said "I was told to always tip my maids."

I glared at her and went home.

The next morning I woke up refreshed and happy. I took a big breath of that Californian air and sighed. Nina suggested that we go to the beach early in the morning. Everyone but Elisa agreed. She was never a morning person. The plan was to meet at the beach by 9:00. I slipped into my swimsuit, tugged on a pair of shorts and headed out the front door. I stopped by Viara's house to pick her up. Viara burst out wearing aqua broad shorts with a matching bikini top. We ran onto the streets talking and sometimes singing on top of our lungs. When we reached the beach, I saw Nina and Elisa waiting for us.
"Jeez Ari, I could hear you guys wailing like wild harpies from here. When you passed my house, my dad called to ask if I knew you two." Elisa said tauntingly. Usually I would reply with "Please tell me you said no. If you didn't, I'm cursed to never step foot on your street again!" But today, I just smiled knowingly. I felt a rush of anger towards Elisa right now, I really don't know why. To distract myself from the volcano of hatred inside me, I turned my attention to Nina  "Isn't this the private part of the beach?"

"Yeah it is. You know that guy who owns so many malls across the country? I did a little impersonation of his daughter." Nina replied. I was impressed, goody two-shoes Nina would never do something as illegal as this, heck goody two-shoes Nina would never do anything illegal!  I turned to her to say so "Jeez Nina, I never knew you had the guts to illegally steal someones identity. You've got guts girl." I said enunciating each word and waving my finger. 

Nina just gave me a mischievous smile. "I'm more devious then you thought twin tails." We high fived and smiled at each other.  In that moment, I felt all the negative feeling towards Nina melt away. I guess her hatred ocean dried up into a puddle too, because she turned to me and said: "You know Ariel, I don't hate you anymore. I hate someone else." She looked at Viara with pure hatred written all over her face.

"Aww Nina, I don't hate you either. I hate her." I growled the last part finally letting the volcano of hatred erupt, and submerge Elisa in the lava of negativity.

"Now that you mention it, I want to direct all my anger at you too Ariel. Your off the hook Blondie. I have new person to detest." Elisa basically spit that last word at me. 

 "Ooh I see Elisa learnt a big word. Did you pick that up from your baby books?" I asked mockingly.

"Watch your mouth Chinatown, or else i'll introduce it to my fist." She threatened . 

In the background, I could hear Vi fire sassy insults at Nina, but my focus was on Elisa.

"You know I still didn't forgive you for ditching me." I said.

"You were the one who stopped talking to me all of a sudden." Elisa replied. "You got caught up in your life, and left me lying in the dirt while you floated away like an airhead."

"An airhead huh? Well dirt face, you didn't have to ignore me for a whole year and but into my fights!"

"Look here Breezy Blowhard. I didn't ask for you to fly away. You know what I need to take a hike."

"Why don't you hike out of my life!!" I yelled back.
Elisa turned on her heel and walked away silently. Clear indication that I out insulted her. I turned around and walked towards Viara. As I was walking, Nina stormed by. I ignored her and continued towards my bestie.

"You insulted her butt off, didn't you." I said knowingly.
"I sure did" Viara said. "C'mon lets go swimming." And with that we plunged into the ocean.
