Nina POV

As soon as I got home, I flopped onto my humongous bed. Kayla, my maid, came and took my bag downstairs.
Yes I said maid. My dad is actually owner of a couple huge malls all across America. Last town I lived in, everyone knew who my dad was. I was the popular kid. You know, mean, dumb, bunch of cronies willing to do anything for you. That sort of stuff. My family moved here 3 years ago. Here nobody knows my true identity. Yet I'm still popular.
"Miss Nina, your mother wishes to see you." Kayla's voice echoed through the intercom.
I hopped off my bed and walked to my mom's study.
"Hi mom. You wanted to see me?"

"Yes I heard you were involved in a fight." My mom got straight to the point. "Look it was never meant to spiral out of control. I was just arguing for the front seat." "Well you managed to get the whole class to throw everything on their desks with your little nerd fight." My mother started raising her voice with every word.

"Mom I called the girl who I was arguing with a name and her ex-best friend stood up for her. Then she got into a fight with her current best friend. They started to fight and got the class riled up." I explained."I believe you. It's just that you went through so much in Washington, I don't want a repeat of that. We came to California to get a fresh start." My mom said gently.

My head hurt just thinking about Washington. Acting like a spoiled diva, ruling the school with an iron fist, humiliating whoever got in my way. People knew who my dad was and I played that to my advantage. I was different back then. When we moved here, I decided to act like myself. I concentrated on school, I was nice to everybody and they liked me. I was crowned the Queen of the Geeks. I liked it.

I went to my closet and focused on tomorrow's beach day. I pulled out my bathing suit only to find out, it was too small. I told Kayla I would be shopping and walked to my dad's mall.
As I walked into Macy's, I ran into Danielle Richardson. Danielle is your average mean girl. The one you always read about. The one I used to be. Her nose scrunched up in disgust as she took me in.

"Oh hi Nina" She said my name like she was addressing a trash can.
"What are you doing here?"
"Just buying a swim suit." I replied.
"Look I just want you to know that we're in high school now." Danielle said stupidly.
"I know that. I'm not dumb."
"Whatever. Just stay out of my way."
"Uhh I have to go so can you..."
Danielle took the hint and flipped her long straight blonde hair in my face before sashaying away.
I rolled my eyes and headed into Macy's. I ended up buying a red bikini that had white polka dots all over it. As I walked out, I ran into Ariel.

"Hey Nina. That for tomorrow?" Ariel asked gesturing at my bikini.

"Yeah, you buying one too? Cause Macy's has some good swimsuits." I replied. Ariel thanked me and we went our separate ways. I was astounded. Ariel and I never had an encounter without fighting. It's not natural! All that rage I felt for Ariel was slowly fading away. Instead, that rage was directed to someone else. Someone who knew my dirty past. Someone who was close to Ariel. Viara. As I walked home, all these thoughts bubbled in my head.

When I got home, I hung my bikini up and read my favorite book. I jumped onto my bed and got lost in the world of Percy Jackson. But Viara was always there in the back of my mind.
