Aurora's Dream

I was back on the Ark, back in my old room. I smiled at the sight of it all. I missed it; I missed the smell of my freshly cleaned clothes, the old family photos, all my training equipment that I worked on with dad, and all the old yellow paged books that I had read over and over again. My smile grew when I saw one photo in particular; it was my mum, dad and I. My parents were always so happy and so in love, no matter how bad things got, how little we had to eat, they never let it take away from the love they had for each other and me.

As I was remembering all the beautiful times with my parents, I hear my bedroom door behind me open and someone speaks with a familiar accent.

"Look at how beautiful you have become." A sweet voice said from behind me. I could recognize that voice anywhere, but I had to turn around to make sure.

And there she was, my mother.

"Mama?" I managed to choke out with a lump in a throat, as the tears began to roll down my face.

'How is this possible, how am I here right now?' I thought to myself, unsure of what was happing. She came closer and held my face in between her soft hand, running her thumbs across my cheeks, wiping up the tears.

"Shhh, you mustn't cry." She said smiling at me.

"I've missed you." I say.

She engulfs me in a tight hug. "I've missed you too, my beautiful butterfly." Tears continue to roll down my face. I couldn't help it; I missed her soft touch, her warm hugs, her sweet voice...I missed my mother. "Now..." she says pulling out of the hug and facing me. "Let me see that beautiful smile."

She smiled and I couldn't help but laugh and smile back. The past started to come back to me of how my mother died, how she really died, not the story people were told. I take a deep breath trying to control my speaking.

"I-I'm so s-sorry, mama." My voice was cracking and it was hard to take in full breaths.

"Aurora, it wasn't your fault. Do you understand me?" her voice a bit stern. "Stop blaming yourself, okay? You did the right thing. You always do." I nod my head at her. "Now tell me what I missed." She said with an excited smile on her face.

I giggled at her childish expression. She was always so happy and fun. "Well, me and a 99 other teens got sent down to earth, to see if it is survivable and it is, but we found out we are not the only ones that survived. Mama, it's so beautiful down there." I continued on about the ground and her eyes were filled with excitement the whole time.

"I'm so proud of you, Aurora. I see you taking care of the kids down there. They look up to you. Especially that little girl, what was her name. Charlotte? That's it, as well as Octavia and Clarke. That Bellamy boy seems to fancy you." She says, lightly nudging my shoulder.

She takes my hands in hers. "Listen...i don't have much time, but I want you to know that I love you and that I'll always be there with you. Even though you don't see me or hear me. I'm there, smiling at you, watching over you. I'm so proud of you and of what you have become. Be strong for me, okay? Be strong for those kids. They need you." I nod my head to her.

"I love you too Mama." I say as tears begin once again to roll down my face.

"Now, wake up Aurora. Wake up."

"Wake up Aurora." Someone says shaking me. As I come to, opening my eyes slightly, I see Octavia standing over my bed side with a worried look on her face. I sit up and rub my eyes my breaths were short and my cheeks stained with tears.

"I'm sorry, O. Did I wake?" I asked. It must have been the middle of the night.

"No, I just wanted to make sure you were okay. You were crying in your sleep."
