Present: Last day of senior year
"Hey Mia! You should come over tonight. My parents won't be home." Drew Harrison said, wearing a smirk on his face. Drew Harrison was not only the most popular guy in Oakwood High, but he was also the most obnoxious guy on the planet. He's been asking me out since the ninth grade and he seriously can't take no for an answer.
"Drew, why don't you go hang out with your friends or something." I said, completely ignoring his question.
"Why won't you answer my question? You know Mia, every girl in this school wants to date me."
"Well, this girl doesn't. Which is what I've been telling you for four years."
"But..."
"Bye Drew." I said as I walked towards Alice and Scarlett. Boys like him are the reason I've completely given up on love. I can't believe I actually used to believe that high school would be full of reckless relationships, and in the midst of it all I would find true love. Of course I wish it would've gone that way. In fact, to this day there's not a star in my sky that I haven't wished upon for the love I'll never get.
"Why must boys be so stupid?" I asked Scarlett and Alice as we walked to the music room. It was the last day of senior year and we weren't going to waste it by going to class. We would much rather sing and dance all day.
"Not all of them are." Scarlett said.
"Yea, what about Lucas?" Alice smirked. Alice has this strange belief that Lucas likes me and I seriously don't understand where she got the idea from.
"Alice, not again." I complained, dreading the oncoming conversation.
"Come on Mia can't you see it? He totally likes you, he's not a complete idiot, and he's obviously very cute." Alice said.
"Well I don't see it. He's just one of my best friends. That would be like dating my brother." I said, disgusted by the idea.
"Well, I mean your brother is pretty hot." Scarlett said.
"Gross." I said, as I opened the door to the music room, Only to be serenaded by the one and only Lucas Matthew Harrison.
"I told you." Alice said, walking away with a smirk on her face. But, I just ignored her because not a day goes by when Alice Mae doesn't try to set me up with a new guy.

"Guys! I have something super exciting to tell you!" I said. Alice, Scarlett, Lucas, Mason, and I were currently sitting in my basement watching a movie. We had left school about two hours ago and of course we all ended up at my house.
"Can't you wait until the movie's over?" Mason asked.
"No Masey. I simply can't." I said, knowing he hated when I called him Masey. But, what kind of best friend would I be if I didn't call him by a nickname he hated?
"Alright, you can say it just stop calling me that." Mason said.
"You know I'll never stop, but anyways our freshmen dreams are finally coming true!" I said, excitedly.
"What do you mean?" They all asked, confused.
"I mean that my parents rented a lake house for a month and we're all going on a road trip there!"
"Really?! We're going to stay at a house all by ourselves for a whole month?!" Scarlett asked.
"Well, not necessarily alone. My parents are making my idiot of a brother come with us." My brother wasn't a horrible person, I mean he was basically one of my best friends. He was just very protective of me. Too protective.
"That's even better! We're going to be living with a hot guy for a month." Scarlett said.
"You mean three hot guys since we're coming too." Lucas smirked referring to himself and Mason.
"Eh. You guys are alright." Alice said.
"So, where is this lake house?" Mason asked me as Alice and Lucas argued about his 'superior' good looks.
"It's upstate. At Lake Evermore."
"You know Mia, I heard lot's of people see shooting stars there." Scarlett smirked.
"Really?! Well, I mean it's not like my wishes are going to come true." I said.
"You never know." Scarlett said. Hopefully she was right. Maybe we would see a shooting star and maybe my wishes would come true. Because even though I seemed hopeless, I really wasn't. Secretly I still had a glimmer of hope that someday my wish would come true. And maybe Lake Evermore would be my someday.
