Graduation

Graduation day. The day you realize that it's actually been four years, even though in reality those four years felt like four minutes. Also the day most people realize they've taken high school for granted. I certainly did. I might have said I hated school about a billion times throughout the past four years, but in reality all of my best memories were made in school. Although my ultimate goal throughout these four years was to leave as soon as possible, now I sort of wish I could stay a bit longer.

"This is it guys." I said to my four best friends as Principal O'Connell started to call out our names.

"Mia Hamilton!" Principal O'Connell called out as the crowd erupted in claps. I walked on stage and received the piece of paper I'd been working so hard for. I got off the stage only to be instantly bombarded with hugs from my family and friends.

"Congratulations! Oh my goodness you're all grown up now I can't believe it!" My mom said as she hugged me.

"Yea, I can't believe it either."

"Road trip time!" Alice said from the back seat of the car. We were all packed and ready to go in my brother, Liam's car. As soon as graduation was over we had all come to my house to get ready for the five hour road trip awaiting us. Although knowing us these five hours would fly by with our constant singing and laughter. We seriously acted like the cast of high school musical.

"Somebody change the song before my ears explode!" Mason exclaimed from the back seat of the car.

"Definitely not Masey. I absolutely love this song." I said, singing along to Drag Me Down by One Direction. Mason and Lucas loved to pretend they hated One Direction, but they obviously didn't seeing as they were secretly dancing along to the catchy tune whenever they thought no one was looking. Thankfully, Scarlett had taken a video of them without them realizing. That would definitely come in handy the next time they decided to move my bed and I into my backyard in the middle of the night. Trust me it's happened more than once.

*1 hour into the trip*

"Guys, I'm starving." Alice complained.

"You literally just ate an hour ago." Lucas said.

"Exactly, an hour without eating is too long." Alice was the type of person that no matter how much she ate, she was never satisfied. Surprisingly she still maintained a slim figure.

"Alright, then where do you want to go?" Liam asked.

"Anywhere as long as they have good food." Alice said.

"Then McDonald's it is." Liam said as he turned into the nearest exit on the search for a McDonald's.

*20 minutes later*

"Alright, if we don't find a McDonald's in the next five minutes we're going back." Liam said.

"I found one." Alice said, pointing to her discovery. As soon as Liam pulled into the parking lot Alice ran out of the car and went to order her food.

"Are you happy now?" Lucas asked as soon as Alice made it back. Alice nodded as she stuffed her face full of food.

"Okay, now who knows how to get back on the highway?" Liam asked.

"What do you mean who knows how to get back? You're the one who drove here." Scarlett said.

"I mean that I actually have no clue where we are right now." Liam answered.

"What?!" Lucas and I exclaimed once we realized that we were lost in a state we'd never been to.

"It's okay guys. I was paying attention so I know how to get back." Mason said confidently.

"Are you sure?" Alice asked.

"Yea. I'm as sure as I am that my name is Mason Dylan Sterling."

But, you're not even sure of that. Remember when you spelled your own name wrong on the SAT." Scarlett laughed reminiscing.

"Shut up! I was nervous okay?"

"Sure." Scarlett laughed at his stupidity.

"Well, you're our only hope now Mason so lead the way." I said, hoping we didn't end up even more lost than we already were.

-Half an hour later-

"Are you sure you know where you're going?" I asked Mason who was currently driving.

"Not anymore." Mason said casually.

"What?!" we all yelled.

"Yea, ever since I made that right turn I've been completely lost." Mason said.

"Mason, we made that turn twenty minutes ago." I said.

"Oops?" Mason shrugged.

"Alright, that's it. I'm taking over." Lucas said as he pushed Mason out of the drivers seat. And that was probably the best thing that happened on the whole road trip because ten minutes later we were back on the the highway and four hours later we had finally arrived at Lake Evermore.
