40 years in the Future

"What am I looking at?" Haruyuki Arita stared at the device on display for a few seconds, blinking.

"Well isn't it obvious!?" Azure Sapphire, the current Number 3 ranked Level 5 of Academy City 40 years in the future said. "It's a freakin' tracking device!!"

Haru and the Luster Touch were standing in front of a store window where apparently New Age electronics of unconventional use were being sold. Haru happened to be looking at a large looking box that somewhat resembled a microwave.

"Look." said Haru uneasily. "I'm not sure this will help us find Misaka-san.."

"It tracks electromagnetic signals." said Azure. "I'm pretty sure it will work... we could use it to track any Electromaster within 600 miles!!"

"But aren't there a lot of Electromasters in Academy City?" said Haru. "Not to mention all the other interfering electric signals we have to deal with.."

Azure stuck her tongue out and folded her arms. "Come OOOOON... it wouldn't hurt to try!!"

"It would waste time Sapphire-san.."

Azure sighed and frowned. "Fine fine... what a bunch of bull shi-"

"S-Sapphire-san! I-Is there really need for that kind of language?" Haru stammered.

"YES!!" Azure roared. "WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL SHI-"

"BURST LINK!!" Haru yelled.

The world around Azure and Haru suddenly froze, as if time decided to take a little detour. A small pig resembling Haru to an extent popped out of the frozen Haru.. while Azure's avatar, a small bipedal cat wearing a dress, resembling a Felyne from Monster Hunter popped out.

"Wh-what did you do that for!!?" Azure yowled, her cat hair standing on end irritably.

"There were people all around us!" said Haru the pig, pointing at all the people surrounding them, frozen in mid stare. "This isn't Academy City Sapphire-san, people are going to look at you badly.."

"I don't freakin' care!!" said Azure. "Did the Railgun ever care how people looked at her!?"

"I-I think she handled things a bit differently then swearing out loud in public." said Haru.

Azure made to fire back an angry retort.. but stopped and looked down a little guiltily. "Look.. I know as my Brain Burst Parent and all.. that you're just trying to look out for me.. but if I'm going to surpass her.. I've got to pull out all the stops.."

Azure Sapphire.. one of the 8 current Level 5s in Academy City.. Haru had met her when Mikoto had been stuck in his laptop. She had helped them fight against the powerful Viros known as Krux before they were able to trap him temporarily in the Unlimited Field and defeat him with their Duel Avatars.

After that, Haru had gone to see Azure in the hospital to thank her, after which she demanded to know what had been going on.

Azure, being the brazen bold personality she was, and Haru, being timid and unsure of himself whenever he wasn't Silver Crow.. it had been an easy thing to get Haru to spill out about Mikoto and the Time Travel mayhem that had happened.

Incredibly, Azure had believed him, and after some extremely strange circumstances, Haru found himself uploading the Brain Burst Program onto Azure's Neurolinker.

Those who uploaded the Brain Burst Program to another's Neuro Linker were known as a Parent while those who received the program were known as a Child. This was due to several reasons.. firstly, because those who received the program were usually suffering extreme hardships through life, and usually this resulted from neglectful parents... as a result.. the Brain Burst Mentor usually became close with his or her Child.
