Hawkins, Indiana

Hawkins was falling apart. Their world was ending. Suddenly, for the first time since November 1983, the mismatched group of heroes had lost the battle against the evil that haunted their town. These were the only thoughts racing around Catherine Henderson's head as Steve Harrington drove her, her younger brother and Robin Buckley through the woods to Jim Hopper's old cabin. Shortly after they had all witnessed the Upside Down beginning to bleed into their town, Nancy Wheeler had radioed them to meet for an emergency meeting. As soon as Steve's car pulled to a stop, Cat jumped out of the front passenger seat and ran up to her friend, making sure to jump over the tripwire that was still in place surrounding the property.

"Is everything okay?" Cat asked, skidding to a stop outside the cabin.

Nancy nodded her head, placing her hands gently on Cat's shoulders in attempt to get her to calm down. "We're fine. I just thought we should discuss what all this means." She lifted one hand off her friend's shoulder to gesture at the white particles that were still floating in the air. "Plus, El really wanted me to call you here so she could talk to you."

Cat looked over her friend's shoulder as the cabin door opened and a figure emerged. "She's just inside." Joyce said, smiling at the sight of the girl. A large grin formed on Cat's face and she stepped past Nancy, rushing up the cabin steps where she wrapped her arms tightly around the woman. "Oh." Joyce breathed out, taken aback by how much the young adult had missed her. "It's good to see you, too, Cat."

Cat pulled back, a sheepish look on her face. "Sorry, Mrs. Byers. Just missed all you guys, that's all."

"I told you, you can call me Joyce." She patted Cat's arm gently. "El's just inside. It sounded like whatever it was she needs to tell you is pretty urgent."

Cat nodded her head. "It's good to have you guys back in Hawkins." She smiled softly, walking around Joyce and towards the front door. "Even if it's under these pretty shit conditions." She pushed the door open, freezing in shock when she saw who was standing in the living room. "Oh, my God." She whispered.

"Hey, Kiddo." Jim Hopper smiled softly at the girl he'd grown to see as a daughter.

"Are you real?" Cat asked, unsure whether or not her eyes were playing tricks on her. She turned back to where the others were crowded together outside the cabin. "Is he really here? Or is Vecna controlling my brain again?"

Nancy shook her head as the others stared at Cat in confusion, unaware of all that had gone down in Hawkins while they were absent. "Vecna's not tricking you, trust me. This is real."
