"Jonathan." Nancy sighed, watching as the tall boy kept slamming his shoulder into the sealed wall, trying to wedge the door open. "Jonathan. Jonathan, stop."

"What?"

"If we hurt ourselves, we're really screwed." She pointed out to him.

"Yeah, I guess you're right." Jonathan sighed, taking a seat opposite her on the now, solidified melted liquid. "Okay, so now what?"

"Got anything else you wanna confess?" Nancy joked. Jonathan chuckled lightly. A sudden bang sounded from the other end of the room, causing the pair to snap their heads towards the cause of the sound. They scrambled to their feet, bracing themselves for danger as something smashed its way through the wall.

"Stay back." Jonathan whispered, gently pushing Nancy behind him.

After a few more moments, the wall finally crumbled away to reveal a hole large enough for a person to climb through, and a pair of familiar faces. "Sorry we're late." Steve smiled sheepishly, dropping the fire extinguisher to the floor as his two friends exhaled in relief.

"You guys alright?" Cat asked, her forehead creased in worry as she looked between the pair.

"All the better for seeing you guys." Nancy grinned. Both she and Jonathan picked up their jackets, crossing the room to the newly formed exit- the engagement ring forgotten in the corner of the floor.

"You okay?" Steve asked as he helped Nancy climb through first.

"Yeah." She breathed out, nodding her head. "Yeah, we're okay." She was taken aback as Dustin suddenly wrapped his arms around her, hugging the older girl tightly.

"Why do I not get to hug my best friend first?" Cat teased, a smile on her face at the two as she ruffled her brother's hair.

"Was that weird?" Dustin asked, looking between Nancy and the others as he pulled out of the hug. "I'm sorry. That was weird. I didn't... We just... We thought..."

"We were goners. Yeah, we did too."

"I'm so glad you're not." Cat cried, pulling both Nancy and Jonathan into a tight hug. "I've never been more happy to see you guys in my entire life."

"Turns out that shield generator of yours..." Jonathan said to Dustin, patting Cat on the shoulder as he pulled away from her.

"Isn't really a shield generator. Yeah, we know." Steve told him, finishing his sentence.

"Well, you'd think that would have been good information to share." Nancy said, linking her arm with Cat's and placing her other hand on her hip.

"Well, we tried." Cat sighed, gesturing to the walkie-talkie in Steve's hand- the antenna wonkily taped together. "The antenna snapped."
