My favorite protagonist would have to be Fiona from Haunting Ground.
Fiona makes me feel like I'm actually in the game. All her reactions reflect what I would have done, if I were in the situation. Like occasionally she would have like a little panic attack seeing this massive giant try to chase her down. I mean if I were her, I'd be scared beyond belief. Probably to the point of screaming and crying.
Something else I like about Fiona is she never has a weapon. All of her enemies have a weapon but her. It sheds some light in the reality of the situation if it were to happen in real life. I mean c'mon, weapons aren't going to be randomly placed for your convenience in real life. The reality of the situation is that your probably going to have to Haunting Ground Style it and hide under beds.
