Chapter 48 - In the End, the Weak Don't Survive
*Murphy's POV*
The following morning is not what I was expecting. Thought we'd wake up, make our way to the gate. Safe Haven residents would greet us inside; offer us food and ask about our journey. Thought everything we went through to get here would be worth it, course not every story has a happy ending. Thinking about it, I should have known better than to sleep. Matt had the right idea, but even that didn't save us...
Weakly I continue to strain against the ropes that tie me to a post. I feel my skin rub away more and more each time I turn my wrists. Ignoring the pain I twist around, trying to find Grey. I struggle to see anything through my swollen eyes.
Blinking away the blood that drips from the gash above my eyebrow I hear the iron door across from me creak open. As the door shuts with a boom, the sound of high heels echo in the cement room.
"Your awake," a woman's voice beams. Her heels click as she moves closer. Stopping in front of me she crouches down, "You put up quite the fight out there. Very impressive."
Not having the energy to speak I glare at the blonde before me. Her cold eyes stare down at me as she smirks. "I'm sorry that my men had to wake you this way, but you did show us that we aren't as, equipped, as we thought."
"Where's... Grey," I croak.
Almost as if she didn't hear me the woman straightens, "I think you could teach us much more, after all you've been out th--."
"WHERE IS SHE," I roar as I furiously pull against the ropes.
"Settle down, yelling will get you nowhere."
Ignoring her I pull harder against the ropes as a rage builds up inside me. "If ya' fuckin' hurt her, I kill you," I spit as I twist around. "I'LL FUCKIN" KILL YOU ALL!"
As I fight to free myself the women sighs, "have it your way." Turning away from me she heads back towards the iron door. Stopping in the doorway she nods towards someone unseen to me. As the door slams shut the butt of a gun cracks against the back of my head, knocking me out.
*One hour before*
"Argh," I groan when the toe of a shoe is driven into my back. "What the fuck was that for," I growl as I roll over. Blinking against the morning sunlight I expect to see Matt standing over me, instead I find an unknown man.
"Good morning sunshine," he smirks as he swings his foot at my head.
Just before it can collide with my jaw I roll out of the way. Quickly I scuffle to my feet and stand in a boxer stance. Keeping my eyes glued on the man I watch him raise hands while giving me a smug look.
"Whoa, look out! We got a fighter," he jeers. Bursting out in a fit of laughter, he drops his hands and holds his stomach as if he just told the worlds funniest joke. "Ahh, you entertain me," he chuckles while pretending to whip away a tear.
Growing irritated by his behavior I grit my teeth. As I glare at the laughing man I see Matt sneaking up behind. "Who the fuck are you," I growl, trying to buy him time.
"Me? Ahh, that's not important. You know what is important," he questions. Suddenly turning around he throws a punch, catching Matt in gut. As Matt sinks to his knees, clutching his stomach, the man turns back to me. "Teamwork. Teamwork is very important," he smirks.
Getting no reaction from me his eyes drift down to Grey who cowers behind me, shielding Tess. "Pretty girls you got there. Looks like they'd like to have a good time," he says flashing a toothy grin. "Little ones a little young, but give her a couple years and--"
