"They never realized that the smile that graced her lips never met her e y e s ."

*~*~*~*~*~*~"

no one Knew.

she was a tortured human,

and he was the only one who saw it.

no one else payed attention to her tears,

just the smile plastered on her face everyday.

no one cared if she was unhappy,

because no one new her like he did.

no one new the kind of art she drew,

the one where her canvas was her body,

and her stencil was a razor.

they didn't know that she sat in a coffee shop 8 hours a day to pay off her rent.

they didn't know.

all they really knew what that there was a girl,

with a pretty smile.

but what they didn't know was that the girl who wore sundresses and flowercrowns,

hated nature.

they didn't know that the girl who ate almost an entire meal,

threw all of it up after wards and cried herself to sleep.

and all of this was to make herself p e r f e c t .

they didn't know her like he did.

the pretentious friends she kept around for confirmation that she wasm't lonely.

she was still crying in the shower.

bloody and dying.

and he heard.

he heard her cries and made his way to her house.

the shower curtain opened and there was m a r a with a battered hand,

cuts and slashes splattered across her cheeks and body.

he picked her up and set her on the counter.

no words were spoken,

just the words of their eyes spoke,

and the innocence of hers had a mischievous glint behind it.

and it was like her previous agony disappered in thin air.

but the desperation of affection hung heavy in the thick closed bathroom air.

he knew it wasn't real.

she didn't love him like he did her.

but he didn't care.

she wanted him.

so he gave it to her.

and that night,

she wasn't so lonely anymore.

she became his,

and he became hers.

sincerely, m a r a.
