I had finally made it to Canterwood crest. The school was beyond beautiful. Everything was perfect to the last piece of trimmed grass.
"Wow, this school is impressive. You're going to be spoiled here" My mom said.
"Not exactly, I heard its one of the toughest boarding schools in the state. It's going to be hard to get good grades." I said feeling a little queasy.
"Relax" My dad chuckled. " You'll be find."
I silently sighed. Riding could really take a turn on my grades. It would be hard to focus on both and possibly my roommate. What if she's a snobby brat?
My mom took a turn and ended up in the parking lot.
"Let's find Clovers stall first" I suggested.
My parents nodded in agreement. Once we stopped, I climbed out of the truck and ran to the back of the horse van attached to the truck.
Clover, a beautiful black Arabian quarter horse cross, neighed as she saw me. Her nostrils flared, she hated car rides.
I unlocked the hinge at the back and opened the door. Clover walked out and let me grab her lead line.
"Hey Clover", I said stroking her mane.
"Please make a good impression" I whispered into her ear.
My parents walked over. Dad patted Clover and she moved closer.
"Can you hold this?" I asked my dad handing him the lead line. "I need to check her legs."
My dad took it. I crouched down and felt her legs, nothing was hot. Phew!
We all walked over to the stables. I walked down further until I found Clovers stable. Her nameplate was plastered on to wooden gate and was written in golden fancy cursive. Beside it, another stable had the name Black Jack.
"Wow, this stable is huge! Clovers gonna love it!" I exclaimed.
Mom laughed and opened the gate. Clover walked in looking happy and excited. I took off her halter and hung it on a hook.
"I'll be back in a bit." I told Clover.
I raced back to the car and my parents helped me take all my luggage to my room. Outside the building a short lady with brown wavy hair waited.
"Are you looking for your dorm?" She asked in a soft voice.
I nodded.
"I'm Livvie Davis. Could you tell me your name?"
"Anastasia Nickels" I Said.
"Alright, you will be on the third floor, room 217. Here are your keys. Your roommate is Andrea Carter. She takes music."
"Thanks Livvie."
My parents followed me to the elevator, then third floors hallway. I eventually found room 217 and slid my key into the hole. It clicked open and I walked inside. No one was inside.
There were two beds, one one either side of the room. A night table for each bed. Two huge walk in closets were also there. One was already stuffed full with clothes.
"We gotta go now Anna, call us if you need anything!" My mom said.
I gave them both a big hug.
"Remember to work hard. As long as you work hard we will be proud of you." My dad said.
I nodded and they walked out closing the door behind them.
This is it, I can't back down now.
