I walked down to the library with a smile on my face.
Me and Jacob used to hang out all the time. We would go skiing together down by the mountains and would chill in his pool during the summer.
I entered the library and saw Jacob sitting at a desk with two hot chocolates.
I sat down and placed my hands on my lap.
"Here" he said handing me the hot chocolate.
"Thanks."
"So, how's your horse?"
"Clover's good."
"I heard you got into the advanced riding team."
"Yes, I did. I can't believe it, I thought I would get intermediate."
"You proved yourself wrong." He said. We continued to chat and update our lives. He said we could meet here every Saturday.
Suddenly, his phone buzzed and picked it up. Sorry he mouthed.
I nodded and gave him some privacy.
"What happened?! You fell off! I'll be there asap." I heard him say.
"Anna I'm really sorry about this, but Sasha fell off and I don't know where the gravel trail is."
I saw the desperation in his eyes and nodded. I ran to the stables, luckily I had an extra helmet that Jacob fastened.
"Is the horse thing better?" I asked. I could tell he was shaking with fear when we approached Clover. I'm sure he'll man up for Sasha.
I climbed onto Clover and Jacob grabbed my hand as he got on causing butterflies to erupt in my stomach.
I sat down shakily and I handed him clovers lead line. I signaled clover to go and we cantered through the trail. Near the end, I saw a girl on the ground crying with her horse beside her.
I pulled Clover to a stop and ran towards her.
"Sasha, what did you hurt?" I asked needing beside her. Jacob came running up and Clover followed to see the commotion.
"There was a wild cat and it spooked my horse and he threw me. I landed on my arm and I think I broke it." She said through sobs.
Me and Jacob hoisted her on to her feet. Sasha clutched her arms and flinched when Jacob put his arm around her.
Just that, another rider came dashing in and saw the problem. Her black hair was pulled back into a braid and her clear blue eyes scanned the area.
"Are you guys alright?" She asked coming over to Sasha.
"She hurt her arm pretty bad." Jacob said.
"Oh no! I'll call mr. Connor."
"Hey, someone fell off their horse in the trail."
In minutes, a bright red truck drove in and all the horses backed up. Mr. Connor and two other lady's came out and lifted Sasha into the truck like ambulance.
"Take her horse to her stall." Mr. Connor barked and drove off.
I took Sasha's horse along with mine. The girl trotted beside me.
"I'm Lidiya Black."
"Anastasia nickels, but you can call me Anna."
"This is Bailey, she's pretty shy."
"My horse is Clover."
"So, what class are you in?" Lidiya asked.
"Advanced."
"Wow, I'm in intermediate."
We continued our conversation down the trail...
