"Please send Amanda to the office with her things." The intercom crackled. Huh? I wasn't supposed to leave early today. I quickly gathered my things and shot a glance at Halle that said "I don't know". When I got to the office I saw my older sister, Jenny, standing with a mascara streaked face. A million thoughts raced in through my head. My sister pulled me into a tight hug. "What happened?" I asked.
"It's mom and dad. There's been an accident."
We raced to the hospital and soon found out that they were in ICU. Neither of them were accepting visitors at the moment. All we could do was sit and wait.
They took us to a large room that was meant for big families. We knew from when our uncle had died that this room, was a place to wait while someone was dying. The nurse explained that they were doing all that they could to save our parents, but there was a very small chance of their survival.
"Here." Jenny said, handing me my phone. "I snagged this from the house... I thought maybe you'd want some friends up here for support."
I thanked her and immediately texted Halle, Theron, and Kennedy what had happened.
Ten minutes after school got out, all three of them were in the waiting room with me. They brought chargers, games and clothes for us.
"We're so sorry." Halle spoke for all of them. They pulled me into a warm hug and let me cry out all my tears. I wondered why on earth this was happening to me.
Around 8:15, everyone had to go home. My sister said that I could skip school tomorrow.
"I'm scared." I admitted
"Me too."
"Sis?"
"Hm?"
"Are they going to be all right?"
" I can't make any promises."
I knew that was coming. We both fell asleep on one of the chairs in the waiting room.
