Three Months ago

I was walking down the middle of a highway. Trees were completely surrounding me no matter where I looked. When I noticed the trees, I realized that I didn’t know where I was. Though I knew for sure I wasn’t in Liberty, Missouri. That is where I started worrying.

A loud screech sounded from behind me. Turning myself in a matter of seconds, I came face to face with a truck that was so much bigger than a bus. As quickly as I could I threw myself out of the road, hoping to God that I won’t die.

The wind from the car hit me in the face. I took in a deep breath of relief. Why was I here? I did go home last night didn’t I? So many thoughts creeped into my head. Is there a reason I am here? I don’t remember getting here or even coming here.

Then it hit me, this has to be a dream. As I started to remember my odd dreams I have been having lately, I thought to myself it has to be. There is no other explanation for it.

Pacing back and forth on the side of the highway, I smelled a decreasing animal right ahead of where I was walking. Unsure of if another animal was by the other, I slowly crept over to see what type of animal it was. Before I even saw it, I knew it was a deer. I’m not sure what made me believe that it was a deer but something inside me told me it was.

The deer was dead that’s for sure. Her insides were spilling out of her physical body. You could see the liver and even the heart of you looked close enough. She was still alive. I could see the slow beat of her heart decrease with every second.

Once again the sound of an engine came from the road. When I looked over, I saw a dark color mustang. As the car passed, I focused on the driver. It was odd; I thought I saw my father in the car. Shaking my head, I made the thought go out of my head. There is no way that it was him. He is in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Before I could take in what I saw, I looked ahead and saw a semi-truck lost control. You could see, the driver realizing what is happening. He quickly tried to gain control of the vehicle but he couldn’t. It swayed into the other lane just as the mustang started coming toward it.

I held onto the breath that I last took in. Then all at once, both vehicles blew up, the ground shook and the explosive of the fire and everything else hit me. Though, I didn’t get burned but I could feel the heat from it. Smoke filled the air around me as I choked on it. Not completely sure how I could sense the pain of the fire or even the feeling of the heat. I was at least two hundred feet away from where the cars exploded.

Slowly standing I took in a deep breath, though I once again choked on the breath. As I looked around the area, I could hear what sounded like a whistle. Unsure of where the sound was coming from, I took a step back. A minute later the sound got louder. Then within seconds, a piece of metal was flying in my direction.

I took several steps back, trying to make sure that the piece wouldn’t hit me. Sure enough if I wouldn’t have taken a step back, it would have hit me. But then I really focused on the metal piece. That is when I realize, it was a license plate. F45D FE was what was on the plate.

Why did those letters and numbers sound so familiar? Thinking about the plate, I began to remember, those were the license plate numbers that were on my father’s red mustang.

I shook my head, trying to wake myself up. This is all just a dream, Lillian. Just a dream. As I kept shaking my head, I didn’t notice around me was changing. The dream was changing.
