CHAPTER 43 | [ANEW]

"You're doing pretty well. In just a few days, you'll be as good as new," the doctor informed, assuringly.

Lilley nodded, her lips forming a straight smile.
"Do you perhaps still feel some pains in your head?" He asked.

She shook her head.
"Not necessarily. I'm good,"

"Well, if you ever feel those pain or feel off, don't hesitate to call," he showed her a button she needed to click.

"Yeah, thanks," she nodded.

He picked up his things and added before leaving, "I'll sort the rest with your guardian, so your only job right now is to rest,"

After he left, Lilley relaxed back on the bed. For them, it felt like she was with them for the whole two days, but for her, it was like she was back in her world. Although back to a point in time, she wished she couldn't relive.

"I thought I've forgotten it all..." she muttered to herself.
She looked up when the door opened, and Nicky poked his head through.

"Can I come in?"
She nearly laughed, remembering this scenario.
She nodded but raised a brow when he suddenly left.

It wasn't long when he came back with Axel and Dina by his side.
Dina immediately ran to Lilley's side, eyes filled with worry.
"Are you okay? Are you sure you're feeling better?"

Lilley nodded, forcing the energy.
"Good as new," she smiled. "Well, apart from the bandage around my head, but I can barely notice it,"

"We were so worried about you," Dina gave her a hug. "I particularly couldn't wait till school was out to come see you,"

When they pulled back, Lilley smiled, but it wasn't forced this time. "Thanks so much for coming," she looked away. "Sorry for worrying you all,"

Dina eyes glistened as she shook off her glasses and wiped her eyes.
"Dina? Are you okay?" Lilley tilted her head, trying to see her face.

"Yeah, yeah, I just- for some reason, there's tears in my eyes," she sniffled.

Lilley couldn't help but smile as she pat her.
"It's okay,"

Her gaze moved to Axel, who was leaning against the wall by the door, and Nicky, who was next to him, both staring back at them.
She felt her face warm up a bit.

"Are you hungry?" Dina suddenly asked.

"Well-"

"You should eat!" She stood. "I'm sorry, it didn't cross my mind to bring something. I'll go check the canteen to see what they have,"

"You don't hav-"

"It's okay," Dina smiled. "Nicky, I'll need your help,"

He blinked and glanced at Lilley before following behind Dina.

Lilley cleared her throat and glanced at Axel, who was still staring at her.
"Um... hi?"

He tilted his head a bit and soon ran his hand down his hair, with a ping of frustration in his eyes.

Is he okay? Lilley blinked. He's acting more weird than usual.

"Do you want to sit?" She directed to the stool beside her bed.

He walked but stopped at the end of her bed.
"You're..." he started slowly, voice lower than usual. "Odd."

She blinked again. What the hell?
"Excuse me?"

"I'm... I'm not trying to offend you," he sighed as if the words slipped out without him knowing. "I just find you odd."
