Killian's POV

David led me to his house and explained everything on the way. A girl named Merida- a princess- had shown up at the library just an hour ago. She was sent by Emma to find the Charmings. David came to get me because he felt I needed to be there to hear everything as well. He knew how hard it had been for me these past few weeks. Merida was waiting with Mary Margaret at their house and would explain everything once they got there.

We finally arrived at their residence and hurried up the staircase. David knocked on the front door and Mary Margaret was quick to answer. She ushered us in. Merida was already seated at the kitchen table, sipping on what looked like a cup of coffee. She seemed a bit suspicious of us, but I guess I couldn't blame her. She had only just arrived in this town a few hours ago and now she was in a house with a bunch of people she had never met before. We joined her at the table and the room was quiet as we all exchanged glances. Mary Margaret was the one to break the silence,

"Merida, you may not realize this, but we've been searching for Emma for nearly a month now and it's such a relief to finally have heard something about her... to know she's okay. To know she's alive." Obviously Mary Margaret and Merida hadn't talked much while we were gone. She didn't seem to know anything more about Merida and why she was here than we did.

"Um, yeah, she's alive alright. However, I wouldn't necessarily say her or her or her actions are okay." She muttered, obviously angry but not wanting to upset us. Mary Margaret and David exchanged glances. I simply stared at her, unsure of what to say.

"What... what has she done?" I asked, my voice wavering between sadness and anger. My head hurt and my palms were beginning to sweat. I wasn't sure I wanted to hear what she had to say next. Merida made eye contact with me and took a deep breath. She seemed hesitant, as if she wasn't sure she should tell us.

"Our kingdom is just now recovering from a civil war. Our people are still trying to re-establish their communities and begin anew. Some towns are in ruins and we are doing all we can to help. About a week ago a girl- Emma- showed up out of nowhere." Merida paused, obviously trying to form her next thought, "...She only made the situation worse. Citizens came to our castle with reports of a being dressed in a beige robe who had killed multiple people in their village, threatened others, and destroyed numerous homes and items. They said she was searching for something but they didn't know what." I glanced over at Mary Margaret and David. David's eyes were beginning to gloss over and Mary Margaret was silently crying, the tears streaming down her face. David held onto her tight, and she had her head rested on his shoulder.

I couldn't help remembering when Emma and I sat together on the couch, watching a tape of her childhood. She had leaned on my shoulder and I had wrapped my arm around her. It had felt so natural, her being near me. She didn't seem uncomfortable or hesitant at the time. She had given herself to me, and I her.

No. I had to stop thinking about her. It only made my pain worse. I shut my eyes and continued listening to Merida, trying to push any other thoughts out of my head, "My father's men tracked Emma down and found her in the outskirts of the forest. We asked her if we could make a deal with her. We asked what we could do in exchange for the safety of our citizens. So that she would never enter our villages again." Merida paused yet again. I was beginning to become impatient, "She told us to find her family and bring them to her. If we did that, she would never set foot in our villages again. We agreed, and my father sent me here to find you. Please, you must come with us. It's our only hope."

"She... wants to see us?" Mary Margaret's voice shook. Merida simply nodded. I could feel tears rolling down my cheeks but hadn't realized I was crying. I felt numb. She's okay. Emma's okay. She wants to see us... suddenly I was struck with a horrible thought.

"Who did she say she wanted to see? Who did she want you to bring back to Camelot?" I asked.

"She only mentioned two people by name. Snow and Charming." She looked at me sadly. I could see the pity in her eyes, and looked away from her. When I turned my head back to face her, she looked right at me and took a deep breath. "I'm sorry. She didn't say anything about you."
