Killian's POV
King Arthur and his red-headed daughter led us down a long series of winding stairs. The farther we descended the quieter it became, only the sound of our footsteps radiating against the stone walls. I could hear the sound of my heartbeat pounding through my body. It was beating fast. I knew that every step I took meant I was one step closer to seeing her. Emma.
We finally got to the end of the stairs, and the only thing lighting up the corridor were torches lining the wall. I stared up at the swirl of stairs and could see the light from the main level. Why were we down here? Why was Emma down here? King Arthur seemed to know what I was thinking,
"When we made the deal with Emma that we would come find you, we also made her swear that she would let us keep her captive for 3 days," He explained, his voice wavering between anger and pride, "We didn't want her causing more harm in the time that we spent looking for you. She had already done enough damage. That is why we are keeping her down here, in a cell of our dungeon."
I heard Snow gasp, and looked over to see both her and her husband struck with worry. They both looked extremely surprised and were holding onto one another tightly. Like they always had.
I only hoped I would have someone to love like that someday.
After finishing his explanation, the King led us farther down the hallway. It smelled dark and dank, like a sewer or the lower decks of my ship where prisoners harbored. Most of the cells we walked by were empty, but I could sense that some of them were occupied. It was too dark to see the residents, however; they were obviously trying to keep out of sight.
We finally stopped at a cell. It was the last one in the hallway and it seemed to have the most protection. Long black bars lined the wall and criss-crossed over one another in an intricate pattern. Usually intricate things like this indicated magic- they must've put a spell on it to make sure she stayed in there.
The bars were rusty but looked tough.
We all gathered around the cell, following King Arthur's guidance.
She was in here. She had to be.
My breathing became labored, and I held my breath as I waited. It felt like an eternity.
Finally, I heard her voice,
"Henry? ...Killian?" She paused, and I could hear her take a deep breath. I still couldn't see her through the dark of the cell, but hearing her voice was enough. My eyes glossed over with tears.
It sounded weak and worried, but it was her. It sounded just like her. I had never felt so relieved to hear her voice before. She was okay. No matter what happened now, she would be okay.
The first thing I saw was her hand wrap around the bars of the cell. She came into view, and I finally took a deep breath. Seeing her made everything real, and all of my worries seemed to drain from me. But they all came racing back when I saw the look on her face.
She looked angry, scared, and worried all at the same time. It was something I couldn't bear to see.
She wore an olive colored dress that reached the ground, with a rope tied around the waist. It had bell-bottomed sleeves that reached her wrists. It reminded me of the dress she wore on our adventure back in time to the Enchanted Forest.
"Why are you here? I only asked for my parents. Please... go."
We were all silent at that remark. Despite the fact that she had only requested her parents, that was the opposite reaction we were all expecting. We expected she would be happy to see Henry and I, no matter what the circumstances.
The room was silent.
The only thing you could hear was the sound of her feet shuffling back into the end of the cell, and her image once again faded from view.
Author's Note: Hi guys! I am so so sorry this took so long. Freshman year started up two weeks ago and it has been a pretty crazy past few weeks, I haven't had any time to work on this. I'm so happy I finally found the time to get around to writing chapter 6. Thanks for reading and I always love to hear your feedback! <3
