Chapter 5: Magic Bean

Snow's POV

Killian was running his hands through his hair repeatedly, and his eyes were turning puffy and red. He looked at Merida like she had just killed someone he loved. Taking a deep breath, he slowly scooted his chair away from the table and stood up.

"I, uh, need to go." He quickly rushed out of the room, slamming the door behind him. David and I exchanged glances and both stood up as well.

"Merida, we will be right back. Stay here." I said before rushing out of the room. David and I talked as we went down the stairs.

"David, we need to let him come with us. You've seen how much pain he's going through. He needs to see her. Maybe Emma just forgot to mention him, or she isn't thinking straight. I'm sure she's not exactly herself." I told him, biting my lip. He simply nodded.

"Although I don't exactly approve of the pirate, one thing's for sure; He makes Emma happy. And happiness is just what she needs right now." I simply nodded, and we went to catch Killian before he went out the front door. David grabbed his shoulder.

"Hook, we need to talk."

"I don't want to talk right now, Mate." His words were bitter, "Just let me be alone for once. You may be Emma's parents, but you're not mine, and I don't need you to look out for me." He started to walk away again. He rested his good hand on the doorknob, about to open it.

"You may not need us, but Emma needs you." David urged. Killian turned around, looking suspicious.

"What do you want?"

"We want you to come with us, Killian. No matter what Emma may have said, she needs you right now. She needs all of us." I assured him. He looked between both of us, as if to make sure this wasn't a joke.

"Ok. I'll come."

Killian's POV

The four of us stood in the middle of the street outside of the Charming's apartment. My mind was still racing, wondering if she really didn't want to see me. Wondering if Emma had changed her mind about me.

Merida pulled something out of her pocket. She held out her fist to us, and slowly opened her palm. Sitting inside of it was a small clear lump. I gasped.

"Is that...?" I didn't finish my sentence, Merida interrupted me.

"Yes. A magic bean. My way home." She took a deep breath, "I'm going to open a portal in the middle of the...uh..." She stared at the pavement.

"It's called a road." Snow said. Merida's face turned bright red.

"Yes, uh, the road. I'm going to open the portal in the middle of the road, and it will bring us to Camelot. We all have to jump in right away, or else it will close..."

"Yes, we've all been in a magic bean's portal before. Don't worry, we know what to do." David muttered impatiently. I could tell he was becoming more anxious to see Emma by the minute, as was I.

Merida nodded.

"Well in that case, there's no time to lose." She glanced at us one last time, concern written all over her face, then she set the bean onto the floor. She stepped on it, and it immediately began to shake. She stepped back.

Suddenly, a purple vortex began to grow, until it was large enough to block the entire road. We jumped in one by one, and my stomach dropped as I began to fall. Within a few seconds, I hit solid ground. My vision spun.

As the stars in my vision began to clear up, I glanced around at our surroundings. A large brown castle towered in front of me, it's steps looming over my body. Charming and Snow lay together on my right, groaning and brushing the dirt off of themselves. Merida was already standing, looking down at us.

Before I could begin to process anything, something fell out of the sky. I only saw a blur, and then heard a thud. I quickly looked to my left, and stared in disbelief.

The boy sitting next to me was panting for air, as if he was just running. It was Henry. His face had a few streaks of dirt on it from his fall, and pieces of his hair were out of place, covering his face, but he looked exhilarated. He grinned.

"I wasn't letting you guys leave without me!"
