Charlie had been working so hard to get ready for the Spring Fling that for once she forgot about Aaron. Although she did see him at meetings because he was the president of the Student Council, she didn't really notice him as much.
After school, when the final meeting of the Spring Fling ended, she sat alone on the swing set in the playground, thinking of her outfit for Spring fling; a pink one-shoulder dress from Valentino, beige leather heels from Christian Dior, with a clutch. Then she realized that she needed to buy a ticket to Spring Fling, but she had wished someone else had bought her one.
Just as she was about to get off the swing, someone pushed from behind and made her swing even further. She tried to slow herself by setting her feet on the floor but instead someone had grabbed on to her swing and stopped her instead. When she turned around, she saw a guy but wasn't able to tell who it was because of the sun. She squinted and saw that it was Aaron.
"Hey," he said grinning. She looked to the floor and said hi back shyly. "I think we worked hard for the spring fling," Aaron continued.
For the past hour, some had decorated their school gym with bright colors and banners, while others had put posters all over campus. Charlie nodded in agreement.
Aaron sat down on the swing next to her, and for a while they sat in silence, just swinging.
"So, I was wondering..." Aaron said, "Do you want to go to Spring Fling with me?"
"YES!" Charlie shouted as she got up from the swing, but then quickly sat back down and whispered "Yes," again. Aaron laughed out loud, and Charlie joined in, knowing that she would remember this day for as long as she lived.
