I leaned back on the couch watching the smoke leave my mouth. CeCe was standing in front of me lecturing me about god knows what.
But at this point. I was so drunk and high, I couldn't even feel my face.
"Ace! Did you hear a word I just said?"
"Honestly?" I asked with raised eyebrows. "-not a word." I chuckled letting my head fall back against the couch.
She glared down at me with her arms crossed. I could tell she was pissed. But I was too cross faded to care.
"You're just begging to get more of your privileges taken away huh?"
I smacked my lips as I slowly sat forward. "'Man what else can you take away from me Ce? You and Scooter have done enough!"
She knew what I was referring to. I didn't even have to say Ariana's name. She knew. I'm glad she did, because of them, I haven't spoke to her in over two months. Not one word, and it was tearing me down. I'm sure everyone around me could see that.
But instead, they put me back on this tour bus shopping me off to god knows where. Just far away from her. Putting me in another PR situation with Dove. She's cool and all but that's not what I want.
"Just get up and make yourself useful, can you do that? How about go finish those other songs for your next album."
Mumbling under my breath I stood on my feet. I took another drag of my blunt before CeCe snatched it out of my fingers and put it out in the ashtray.
"Enough Ace- now go."
I stared down at her with my hands buried in each of my pants pocket.
"Man whatever. This is bullshit."
I didn't wait for her to respond. I just grabbed my jacket and headed out, the door slamming behind me harder than I meant to.
The hallway spun as I walked, fluorescent lights blurring overhead. My head felt heavy. My chest felt empty. I pulled my phone out as soon as I hit the elevator, thumb moving on autopilot.
Not her.
Never her.
I stopped myself every time.
Instead—
"Yo, Lacy, you still in the city?" I asked once the call connected, putting it on speaker.
There was noise in the background—music, laughter—before her voice came through. "Uhh yeah, I am. Why, what's up?"
"I'm free right now. You wanna come by the studio?"
She giggled, high and sweet, and I rolled my eyes. "Hmm, sure Ace. Send me the address. I'll be right there—"
